    My new project!

Doug, It would be nice if there could be sections (or categories) in the Downloads module. I'm tired to always have to search the various benchmarks I use. Including them in that section would be a time-saving task for many I'm sure. I know that phpNUKE is only a project for now, but I think...

Doug, The forum link on the phpBB NUKE site doesn't lead anywhere. It would be nice if it would link to the SF forum. I posted two other news. If you think they could interest people, feel free to post them in the appropriate section. I hope other people here will invest some time to...

Woo hoo! I just got my WarCraft III beta test confirmation!

I rarely play games. Yesterday, while I was walking in a shopping mall (not one of my hobby BTW, I walked half an hour outside at -15°C and I entered the shopping mall to warm up a bit since it was on my way) and I passed in front of a computer games' shop. I decided to take a look at their...

I would have voted too for The Storage Forum.net, but since it was missing, I had to vote for the next best thing : StorageForum.net. One side note : Tony shouldn't vote with both Tannin and Tea or else it invalidates the result (one TRUE member sends two votes). If dual vote is allowed for...

I was also a bit upset by the comment of Davin regarding this forum. Personally, I see no reason to close StorageForum.net now that we know that SR has a future. They are two different web sites with different purposes. I will continue to visit both, as long as I'll find interesting...

No, but 9am isn't rare. As long as I'm in front of my computer for 9h30am when the stock market opens, I'm ok. I've never been a morning man, but I had to wake up very early (4h30am) for several years. Now that I have a lot more freedom, I can finally allow my body to rest all the hours it...

    Microsoft Programming Languages

I messed only a few days with VB. The only programming languages I used before that were assembly (mostly), Bordland C and some Basic for DOS in the 80's (I forgot most of it). I didn't like my experience on VB. Not enough control, too many variables already defined and apparently set in...

SiS645 chipset, are you tempted to turn to Intel again?

I got misleaded somewhere, probably when reading license agreement about SOI between IBM and AMD. The 300mm wafer plans of major chip manufacturers can be found there. Athlon's production cost is still significantly lower than P4's. Old news about it.

MoSys develops new space-saving way to add ECC on 1T-SRAM.

Hi, I stumbled on that news today while looking for something else. I like the low space requirements of 1T-SRAM and its typically low latency (comparable to average SRAM), but it's sad that they can't use it at high frequencies. 200MHz is pretty slow by today's standard. I guess it could...

Scratch that. Sadly, it's always like that between HellDiver and me. I won't speculate on the causes because it would only provoke additional reaction from the other side. [cheap shot] Better to write it once and think it rather than write it five times but not wanting to be humble even...

That must not be an abreviation you use frequently because you don't emit your opinion in an humble manner most of the time, if not always, although sometimes you should. Like you wrote, it's all in the implementation. The 512Kb cache of the early PIII was external, low b/W and high latency...

The NEC LCD1550M has the same panel as the much-praised EIZO FlexScan L375. The main difference between both displays is that the NEC has a narrower viewing angle. Both share fast response times (25ms total of rise and fall time). Their contrast (450:1) and brightness (300cd/m²) are the best...

Nice copy and paste exercice. I read that article too, I just didn't think I needed to quote the exact numbers to state my idea. The real width of the bus isn't important. My point was that it could be a lot wider than what it currently is. I confused the CPU with the GPU, but then again...

    2U Server: Mainboard Dilemma

This poor little Intel processor shares something with me : people can't spell our name correctly :( Wasn't the i810 limited to 100MHz FSB and the i815 able to work at 133MHz FSB? No matter if the graphic's power is about equal between these two chipsets, a i815-based system should be a bit...
