Recommendations on good books to read

Two Posts about Zombies in one day! A few years ago, Max Brooks (son of Mel Brooks) released a book called The Zombie Survival Guide, a detailed and surprisingly serious manual that detailed what to do in the event of a zombie apocalypse. It's a novelty book, sure, but it's true to its literary...

PC Gaming = World of Suck

The guys in my comics shop had an Xbox360 and were playing Dead Rising last night when I was there. I have never been jealous of a console title before. Why, oh why is there not a Zombies-trapped-in-a-shopping-mall game for PCs?

    Samsung WDC buyout rumor

Yes, WD is very good at handling RMAs. Which it should be, given the staggering amount of practice it has. Buying WD is flatly unethical. Whether a single drive or the whole damned company. Has a drive company merger EVER gone well?

Critique my for sale page for my car

The first thing I thought when I saw the price difference is "I wonder what is wrong with it?" I can certainly understand someone being a motivated seller. Maybe that's the thing you should indicate. You might also want to add a VIN number. I used Carfax before I bought my Element, and that's...

Those guys have been out there since the late 90s, anyway. Abit makes a line of motherboards endorsed by "Fatal1ty", who is some kind of FPS-playing person. Thresh, god of Quake, parleyed his success into his own gaming web site, firingsquad.com, which is still a fairly popular site. Stevie...

    $280 NIC

The idea of having a fast-ish coprocessor with a builtin Linux system has a certain amount of appeal. Modifying boot.ini

You should only have ONE boot.ini file on your machine. One. Not Two. You make the change in one place - whichever drive your computer is configured to boot from. Usually that means your primary master IDE drive. If you copied and pasted the contents of your boot.ini file, there is at least...

    Best general-purpose data recovery software?
