    Panasonic Cf-51 Mark III

I' sure I am missing the subtle parts of that remark, LM. Please explain? I was gambling on this CF-51. It has twice the Passmark scores of the Pentium 1.6 ghz M version, faster memory, faster bus, actually has good speakers, and, an ATI GPU, vs onboard for the M version. I get to use all my...

    Panasonic Cf-51 Mark III

Cost was 89 plus 20 shipping. Add 44 dollars for 2 Gig 5300 ram, dual channel, add an old SSD, from Kingspec, and up and running. The Kingspec runs at 75 MB/sec in the Mark III vs. less then 50 MB/sec in the Cf-51 1.6 GHZ Penitum M. Overall, one of the better buys I've made. Great for under...

    Online tax solutions?

Hi I was wondering what traveling pros use for mileage log, income, etc. all the stuff you may not need next year for taxes? Is there any online solution that allows road access, with a server backup that isn't your own, so if your mobile phone, computer, whatever is stolen, you still have the...

    Finally got the toaster working...

BOZO, YOU ROCK! After the third RMA, going on number 4 toasters, I gave up. Pulled the Esata connector, and went with the Antec removeable drive setup. It went in, though I seem to be running out of SATA power connectors, and was up and running in less then 4 minutes. I'm currently copying...

    Cheap, small, light netbook?

After pretty much making sure the newer T2500 based, core duo works, I switched the hard drives, and, I'm putting the 7200 rpm, with minimal software in the car, and the other one is going to be the one to go to. Newer model supports 1600X1200 screen, dual core is slightly more then twice as...

    Finally got the toaster working...

This toaster has the lights quit after one day. Power is only going to one slot, and, it really hasn't worked. Wasted 50 bucks, but, I'm going to try the Antec tray, since I'd really like to be able to use the older drives for single shot backups, and then remove them from the system. The trays...

    Cheap, small, light netbook?

Looks like it's going to work. Only real problem is the SSD is in the old model, but, it may well end up under the car seat. New one finding drivers hasn't been fun, but, it's a bit more then twice as fast, and, ST910021A seems like a decent hard drive, if not SSD fast.

    Anyone Building AMD Systems?

"On the other hand, to be a real downer, AMD's accomplishment here is essentially to match the Core i7-940, a product Intel first introduced in the fall of 2008. I'm trying a used Panasonic CF-51 from ebay. Provided my hard drive caddies fit, and my battery, not to mention brick, work, it maybe a cheap way to keep my data on Google Calendar, using the phone to tether.

Samsung prices crash on monitors. Looks like they are finally going free market.

I know. I looked up the stuff you linked to, then the numbers, and found the same thing. The new software on this monitor sucks compared to the 2233, but, I really did think it was an LED at first. VERY bright whites, and, the brightness is only half way up. Apparently it's not very good through...

Samsung prices crash on monitors. Looks like they are finally going free market.

Well, life is weird sometimes. I traded in my two 2233's that I paid nearly 300 each for. I replaced them with a P2770. I was never going to buy another Samsung, but, the only thing in the 32" range, 1080P, was around 550.00 at Costco. The only one close in 1080P was a 27" TV, for around 320...

Costco: Samsung 27" 300 bucks Samsung 23" 180.00 dollars Samsung 24" 200 dollars. That's a HUGE price cut, from 21.5" for 289.00. Looks like the anti-trust stuff, and the economy, not to mention TV's are finally forcing them to quit price fixing.

OK: So, we now know CDM doesn't work for your drive, in your system. Does make me wonder if the limitation is somewhere in your system. I know the SATA ports on this Gigabyte board seem to be 4 VERY fast, 6 seem to be SATA 1, with actually only 8 of the 10 really working.

HMMM. There are some REALLY bad SSD's out there. Nice to have a bench mark to find out why they are. I have one that won't clear 30 MB/sec. Makes a passable USB 2 external drive, but that's about it. Waste of 140 dollars...

I've done that with a 30 gig Kingspec PATA drive. It makes for a rather quick, and this was a really slow sustained throughput drive, USB drive, that is pretty shock resistant. My comments on the 2233 are on point, and, I'm thinking the clunky adjustments on the Viewsonic might not just be with the model I tried, but, I could be wrong. Looked again today, and, for a 1080 120 Hz TV they are starting about 380.00, at 32". Plasmas seem to be free, 52 inches for 500...

I've used, and returned, thanks to software/firmware and screen quality on a 27" Viewsonic from Costco. I replaced it with a 2233W Samsung: I find this passable, but price fixed, and a poor value, along with limited, poorly designed connection setups. Get a 10 bit screen TV.
