    Ripping Audio to FLAC

I haven't ripped a CD in decades. What's currently the best way to rip entire audio CDs to FLAC? I want to feed the CD, fire off the ripper and have a bunch of flac files at the end of the process. It's too tedious to rip one track at a a time. I'd also like to rip sections of DVD audio to...

Win 7 Home: premium vs Basic

My Dell Latitude was purchased by my employer in August 2007. It has since been and continues to be my only work machine. About a year ago IT wiped XP on it and put Win 7 Enterprise with Office 2007. 2 GB RAM. I wait a tad when opening programs or large files (like powepoints), but I guess I've...

    Android phones: Tips, tricks?

The cornucopia of choice in the modern age is out of control. Look at the rate at which new phones are released. Each model is sold for 4, perhaps 6 months before the next "new & improved" one is out. Most of the time, it's incremental improvements that are not worth it. There is also the...

I would too. In fact I feel silly using a Bluetooth headset. The first time I saw somebody using one years ago, he was walking and had the Bluetooth headset on the ear I couldn't see. Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

Greg, all I'm trying to say is that Costco's liberal policies can be abused. And that is not a good thing. And no, I didn't make the decision. I was the IT head, and the marketing suits and the CEO made the decision.

Televisions as monitors: What are you using, and why?

I once worked for a company that (at the time) made something that was then new to the public. We worked out a deal with Costco, and when you opened the huge box at home, the first thing you would see was a nicely printed piece of paper that said, "Stop! DON'T return the merchandise to Costco...

Well, the problem with Lenovo's and Lattitude's is price. Too high for the purpose. I might be able to find an Inspiron for a little over budget. Otherwise it'll have to be the likes of Asus, HP/Compaq, Acer, MSI, etc. Hence the struggle to do the right thing :bleh:

I think you are indeed mixing up the two - Starter and Basic. According to that most definitive source :beye:, Basic 32-bit supports 4GB physical RAM, and 64-bit supports 8GB physical RAM. Starter, on the other hand, comes only in 32-bit flavor and supports a max of 2GB physical RAM.
