The problem many times is that the insides are packed so loosely that the contents shift around quite easily. I won't be buying disk drives from Newegg again. In my experience, eWiz and Directron consistently package drives better.

They caught that as well. If you want to give up your U.S. citizenship, you have to submit the last 5 years of tax returns to prove that you've been paying taxes, regardless of where you lived in those last 5 years.

Sorry DD. The only thing I can relate to this now is bad power. One place I worked, two PCs that shared a power outlet kept borking with strange errors, and I just couldn't fix it. But they'd run just fine in the lab. I finally bought expensive surge protectors / noise filter power strips, and...

No the LCD doesn't black out, and when everything is apparently ready, the camera won't fire for 3-4 seconds after I press the shutter. This is when taking flash shots in succession. I somehow always thought it was because the batteries were recovering after firing the flash, because if I wait...

It happens to me occasionally. I believe it's a timing issue; I click on a link, and right about that time, somebody submits a post to that thread. The system thinks there's a new post and turns the flag on, but you've already read the new post. It's so infrequent for me that it's not an issue.

Try zeroing the disk for the first few hundred tracks.

I've bought from Directron a few times; they're fine. And they pack HDDs better than you-know-who.
