Hi I've had good luck with ESS 1968(IIRC) or some such number, sound cards in 2000. For some reason, they just work, and without conflicts and problems, with older hardware, that I've had with Phillips sound cards. Who makes them, and why aren't they advertized more? Thanks gs

Hi I've figured out the cards work, and don't need a dedicated slot. They have a really nice annoying alarm, to let you know if the drives have failed. They are LVD, and, I'm wondering if using these with a 440 BX chipset is somehow chipset limited? In other words, are the 440 BX chipseted...

Tests so far... I've installed the card, hooked up a couple 7200 rpm drives, and, with max settings, ended up with about 30 mb sec reads, and, about 10 mb sec writes. With minimal settings, and the 16 mb cache, in raid 0, the same setup goes into cache reads, with about 60 mb/sec larger block...

In my opinion, you have the best os going, if it's 8.6.. Both 8.5 and 8.6 for usb support worked well. They are also the only os that you can use a couple of my favorite tweaks with. "Finder Heap Fixer" is a very old app that allows you to change the Finder memory. This is a really great...

Not to stay on topic, or moot the discussion... But, the way around browser speed is to load the browser on to a ram disk, screw with the settings to increase cache capacity, and have the cache on the ram disk. Only browser that works doing this is IE... Ram disks are wonderful things on...

Use 9.2 all the time, and I like it I think you should just leave it alone, and use it. Our school has a variety of macs, and, I find the best computers are in the tech lab, and they are all macs, running 9x. I run it on my laptop, and, it's slow to boot, but once it's up, it's dead stable...

What a joke.. Kyro 2, 64 mb of ram, rates: 658% on G-4 whatever: GEO MMX 200 rates 165%. However, having another computer with that card, in the past, the Kyro 2 kicks it's butt, but, that's just my opinion. Kyro 2 is a VERY good business card, by the way... Have to run this test on my 5500. gs

My luck Kyro 2 Guillemont didn't work under 98, great under 2000. Voodoo 5500 rocks, under both os, and, for the price, was the steal of the century. Use it for dual boots on 98/2000, when I can find it. TNT 1 and 2 have worked very well, with no complaints. and the MMX, for a cheap video...
