    Ripping Audio to FLAC

I've only used EAC and I think it's fine, but I would probably go with dbPoweramp if I would rip my CD collection today. The biggest problem with EAC is the amount of available settings, and what happens if you get something wrong. One maker of high end music reproduction system even supplied a...

    America is ungovernable

I found this article a bit interesting. It explains why the tax debate is so intense even if most Americans share the same opinion.

    America is ungovernable

It depends, if you earn lots of money you probably have enough to pay the rent, buy shoes for your kids and so on. So it's probably fair that they pay a bit more. But I also understand if you're against paying taxes if you feel that you don't get anything in return.

It depends on the size of the room, but how about a pair of linn tukans? I have a pair and I'm still pretty happy with them. A review: http://www.stereophile.com/standloudspeakers/679/

    Need an Amp

This is probably a decent amplifier: Pro-Ject Amp Box, but it doesn't have a remote control. (It's also available in black.) I also have to mention the Linn Sekrit DS-I, it's a music streamer, pre amp and amplifier in one box. It's really meant to be mounted inside a wall or closet, hence the...

    Need an Amp

The watt rating says nothing really... I got tinnitus from a couple of 2x25 W car amplifiers, so 2x10 W real watts is probably OK.

    Need an Amp

I would get an amplifier with 2 channels, unless you really, really need more channels. Maybe something like the Yamaha R-S300 or Onkyo TX 8255?

    America is ungovernable

Who finances these things for the "companies not in the US"? I haven't studied national economics so its possible that I have missed something here, but I only see two alternatives: 1. The tax payers in the other country. 2. The end consumers.

    Chrysler's Pentastar 3.6L V6 engine

I meant that turbos has been around in cars since 1974, so it's a pretty mature technology that's been tested in an few million cars by now. So a new turbo engine shouldn't be any less reliable than a normally aspirated engine.

I'm also on the lookout for a streamer for movies, the AC Ryan PlayonHD mini2 looks very good. It's inexpensive, rich on features, the UI and the box looks nice. Use the control buttons on the front of the respective Onkyo? ;) No, but seriously. I know almost nothing about receivers so this might be completely wrong. Maybe I'm missing the point or something here. But the Marantz you're looking at (that seems to be very good by the way) has two 12v 150mA trigger outputs. B&Ws designs only leave room for bi-wiring/bi-amping, even in their really expensive high end models. But it's probably more of a theoretical problem since they keep producing some of the best speakers in the world. Besides, it usually gets ridiculously expensive as soon as you start thinking...

    Audio Equipment

The principle is like Stereodude said, the details are described in the manual. But It's a free upgrade, and while it isn't as good as an active setup it's still better than nothing. I don't even think that B&W sell active crossovers for use with their speakers?
  38. F

    Audio Equipment

Are you running your speakers in single-amped or bi-amped configuration? I've read on another forum about someone that bi-amped his CM9's with a 608 and he was very happy with the end result. He hadn't tried single-amp configuration though, so I don't know how big difference it makes, but it...

I'm sorry that I never stop nagging about Linn, but you should really get a pair of Majik 109's. They will even throw in a set of active filters with the speakers if you buy them before Aug 17 when their summer campaign ends. I think the filters alone should be worth ~ $700-$1000. Just add...
