    Cool Case

There's nothing wrong with the way standard PCs look. If I don't want to look at a PC, I put it somewhere I don't see it. That thing, on the other hand, looks like a Japanese design guru went on a tequila and methamphetamine binge.

On this matter I will concur with Tannin. Tannin may live in the upside-down part of the world where nvidia makes acceptable products, but Asus boards are teh suck and Via-based boards are great and have been for some time.

I really can't even begin to care. Dell makes substandard products. Maybe they will soon be making substandard AMD products. Maybe not. On the other hand, I maybe moving into a 100% Dell shop, in which case I can only hope they go AMD.

    Kernel Compilation Questions

Many Linux systems symlink /usr/src/linux to /usr/src/linux-2.6.whatever.the.shipping.version.was. Putting your stuff there would overwrite the files that came with the system. I intrepret that as "make a different directory to put your stuff in", which isn't usually a problem.

No. You're fine. The information is held on the drive itself, and does not depend on the controller or its interface. The worst that might happen is that you might have to re-import your drives. One other thing: If you're doing the software RAID thing to get large volumes on 2k3, you might as...
