I've got a couple of PCs set aside in my office for people to play LAN games on. AthlonXP 3200 Athlon64 3000 P4C 2400 (Thanks Clocker!) Each has 512MB RAM and... nothing in its AGP slot at the moment. Now, these are PCs that probably won't be heavily used for much of anything but game playing...

The disappointing thing about the S3100 is that it's a 32-bit chip. I kind of had an association in my mind between Socket 754 and 64-bitness, but that isn't the case.

Do the problems go away if you put that jumper back the way it was? Do you have front USB plugged in or any other cards or extra cables? Any grounding issues inside the case? Are your fans spinning properly? Did you use thermal compound?

Again I say "bleh." My Tivo doesn't have a digital output. My bandwidth it reserved for porn other porn things porn. I'm NOT analog-capturing a movie off a Tivo if I can get the same thing from a real DVD with alternate soundtracks and decent surroundsound options.

Oddly enough I found my first actual, RMAable Samsung drive this week. A 160GB model with 150k of bad sectors. :( But these longer warranties only make Samsung drives even more appealing.

Bleh. DVDs are undoubtedly easier to steal.

Set the board up on an anti-static bag outside the case while testing it. If you're testing with a Sempron, does the BIOS revision of the board support it? For that matter, did the old board support the Barton? One of those stupid thing - is the Clear CMOS jump set?

P4 arrived safely and happily with Clocker's usual overabundance of packing tape. In fact, in trying to remove all the tape from the top of the box, the sides ripped open. Someone else needs to buy Clocker's old hardware sometime, so they can see what the heck I'm talking about.

It's tricky. You have to know the ingram part number and the staples part number (they reassign everything). Newegg kills me on case shipping. I might buy one case there, but there's no way I could do say, 20.

I am too small for Ingram Micro. At my volume they pretty much wouldn't offer me any discount. The closest I can come with that is Staples. Staples is an Ingram Distributor, so if I know a part number they'll order it for me and then pricematch to their (massive) discount level.
