    Who's using Mozilla?

I would honestly LIKE to use Mozilla, since I like the mail/browser integration, but some of my favorite extensions only work with or work better with Firefox, and I keep hearing mixed messages about whether Moz development will continue.

    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

That's a great board. They work with damned near everything, as do the GA-7VM400s and GA-7S748s. The lesson here is simply to never stray from the true path of gigabyte. They even make crappy SiS-chipsets worthwhile.

    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

Er, you're wrong on that count, mubs. Albatron is a collection of former Gigabyte engineers. Their products are so damn similar they even use the same front I/O layout and the same font for their logo. Their boards are studded with large capacitors - not the hallmark of low-quality...

It's very difficult to have any amount of respect for anyone with that particular set of viewpoints. I can go into all sorts of details as to why, but really what it boils down to see that I see a group of people who are against a number of my ideal of what freedom means. Personally, I hope...

    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

Since this is up at the top of the thread list right now I'm going to mention that I'm taking back every positive thing I've ever said about Albatron. I have three of them in my house, nominally. I had to RMA one last week and two this week. One is on its second RMA. I don't know what goes...

I need something to get this awful taste out of my mouth. If anyone needs me, I'll be looking at transsexual midget foot-fetish rope bondage porn. I can post links if you'd like. I'm sure they'll be more tasteful than Doug's last post.

Why not? It's still in the air, isn't it? Am I missing something fundamental in the definition of the word "catch"? 120 degrees isn't really very hot, Buck. 500 degrees, now THAT's a hot ball. Even better, why not just use a live grenade? I'd even be so charitable as to leave the pin in.

Er... what's wrong with that? He bumbled a bit with the ball and then he caught it. I'm not seeing a problem there. If he bumbled the ball a bit and then it touched the ground and THEN bounced into his glove, that would be something to complain about. Seriously, I think I'd be more proud of a...

Wait, it gets better! In Canada it's 14 plus or minus two years, or 18 for consentual sodomy or sex with an authority figure. Hungary doesn't have an age of consent for lesbian intercourse, but hetro and gay males have to wait until they're 18. Ireland allows lesbians and oral sex at 15 but...

    Walmart's $598 ECS Wonder-Laptop

It's a good idea to get A service plan on a laptop. But I personally don't think it's a good idea to buy a laptop from the likes of Circuit City or Best Buy. I tell people not to do it, in fact. No offense to Bookmage. My problem with the laptops sold at retail is that they tend to - what's...

Athlon I'm hoping to get something for around $30. That's a little cheap for an 1800 chip, but I wasn't expecting anyone to have an 1800 just laying around, either. I'm not trying to lowball you; I have a customer with what I think is a heat-damaged chip and I just need something to slap in...

    Changing drive letters?

On an NT-ish version of Windows, you can change drive letters with Disk Mangement (control panel, admin tools, disk management). But you REALLY don't want to do that to your boot drive. REALLY really. I mean it. If it's a problem for you, then you need to reinstall.

    AMD question

Er, Itanium uses its own, vastly different 64-bit instruction set. As I understand things, even current Intel samples with x86-64 support don't fully implement AMD's spec. Music Recordings today: Flat and Loud

I suspect part of the reason skeet doesn't like doing multi-channel mixes is that for most types of music, he's used to stereo. The overamplified wail of live rock performances isn't about the melding harmonics of the instruments, it's about the melding harmonics of the stacks of speakers on...

Should I buy a Seagate HDD?

Let me be abundantly clear: I believe Western Digital makes a genuinely inferior product to that offered by any other drive maker. I know some of the people here only buy one or two drives a year. I buy about 70. Tannin probably buys ten times that many for his shop. I've shared my ongoing...

My experience with the 634 is that its range is lousy. I bought one for a customer and another for myself (I'm using it only as a NAS device), and found them to have only about 2/3 the range of a WRT54G. If I get time today I'll write up my thoughts on WRE54G range extenders, too.
