I think they need to change their name. Albatron sounds entirely too much like something PC Chips would make up.

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

I don't get new cars. You're throwing down minimum $15k (and probably more like $25k if want something that's decent) for something that's only worth $15k until the second you drive it off the lot . That's a substantial chunk of the cost of a HOUSE. All that car does is consume. Gas, oil...

Seems we know two different companies. The DFI boards I'm familiar with are as vanilla as all get-out. Average price (a bit more proud than FIC or Shuttle at any rate), stable but far from perfect, almost always spot-on reference boards (except maybe for a header layout that makes me want to get...

    Pre-Sale: Asus nforce2

The Soundstorm was a hard requirement. SPDIF is a hard requirement. Looking at pictures of various nforce2 boards, the Asus was the only one I could see that had Soundstorm and SPDIF. If you'll recall, I asked around here about that very issue a few weeks ago, but no one replied.

It has a chance. I wouldn't buy something that doesn't have a chance. I wouldn't mind at all changing my blanket disgust with nvidia in general for a blanket disgust for nvidia video cards. I've never personally tried an nforce2. Personally, I have ZERO interest in performance. Anything I can...

    Pre-Sale: Asus nforce2

I bought a refurb Nforce2 today. An Asus something or other. I had some credit at newegg nothing else sounded good. Of course, I hate nvidia with the sort of passion that really defines such words as "deide", "contemn", or "execrate",so, I'm more-or-less expecting to be utterly disappointed...

    Best movie you've seen

I'm an Anime-not-terribly-interested-at-all-er. I watched Mononoke. It didn't do anything for me. I'm pretty much into all things geeky, but man, Anime leaves me limp. Of course, my first exposure was the utterly, utterly incomprehenisble mess known as Akira. I know it was based on 20-odd hours...

    Memory Upgrade : 256 MB Dimms on a P2L97

It depends on the motherboard. Nothing to do but try, but a high density 256MB chip on the DFI LX-based boards that're sitting around here pop up as 16MB (ie just this side of useless) when installed.

    F---! California passes Net Tax

A lot of those places are probably B&M too, even if B&M just means a 10x10 cinderblock building with a phone and a web connection. If Gov. Davis signs this into law, yes, some of those businesses will no doubt virtually relocate to, say, Oregon, but I have a feeling that most of the majors...

    F---! California passes Net Tax

Someone can make this news later. In a move that must obviously be meant to drive amazon and newegg out of business, the California State Legislature today passed a "net tax" bill requiring that sales tax be tacked on to all purchases in California. Add on 8.25% to everything newegg sells, and...

I was going to suggest AOpen for Ford. Utterly, utterly vanilla products. A lot of resellers in my area use AOpen as a step up from ECS or PC Chips. Assault Turtles

The only time I have ever been fishing, I was about eight years old. I did the only...

I make no claim on Indiana. I spent the first half of my life in Illinois. And no, I don't know what a "Hoosier" is, either. For those that don't know, Indiana, as a state, was once largely governed by members of the Ku Klux Klan. It probably still is - that would explain local political...
