[NEWS] - Yamaha Drops Out Of CD-R/RW Market

My father bought Yamaha's one of 1st consumer-grade CD-R drive in the mid-90s. The thing still works. That speaks volumes for Yamaha IMO. There are a LOT of crappy CD-RW drives on the market. I guess it just got too hard to justify a top-class product and a top-class price when CD-RWs are...

What's your point old man? I'm a very crotchety 27. Ask anyone. Actually the worst is finding out that most of my students have been working longer than I've been alive. Especially when I start referring to something that happened five years ago as "...in the old days". Dog years and...

I actually know where to buy candy cigarettes and wax "sodas". Those things are still around. The $1 second-run theater in the town where I live appends a short-subject to every feature it shows. The old man who runs the place collects them. Go to the late night showing and it'll be something...

    Thanks Merc: Speeze CPU cooler

Either of the above, Groltz. I have three WhisperRocks and one FalconRock. They're all more than adequate for my needs. Quiet CPU fans are really a good thing. I'm keen to buy more next time I happen to get a chance. I know I'm not an overclocker, but really, these guys do the job, much like...

Best threads of SF? This site now has some history. A year's worth, anyway. We've got our own in-jokes that need explaining, most having to do somehow with Tea, and we've had some interesting technical threads. The idea is to have a place for beginners to start, and for old-timers to pick...

    Dell Dude busted for possession

I can honestly say I never saw a Dell commercial with that guy. But looking at the picture in Handruin's link, all I can say is, anyone who DIDN'T look at him and see "Future High Times Magazine Spokesperson" clearly isn't living in what we humans call "reality."

IIRC, Win95 won't install on a 386 unless it's an intel 386/33. I remember trying to load it on a an AMD 386/40 and getting some obnoxiously long message about not detecting an Intel 386 processor. But yes, I've seen 98 on a 486 with 4MB of RAM, too. That was about as bad as this.

Yes, but perhaps Mr. Cahill's could re-sell Buck a site that includes a shopping cart. Already got php and mySQL... I looked at a shopping cart app once. It was written in perl. About 30 lines of the most bastardized code I'd ever seen. I've seen line noise less random.

Any decent priced NAS units for home users?

Any decent priced NAS units for home users?

The other things you have to understand are, most NASes are just low-end Celerons or ARM-based computers running Linux. They're effectively PCs. You're paying extra for a "black box" that's a little harder to upgrade, and with some nice management software.
