I'm pretty sure that Exact Audio Copy is still the way to go. If you wan't truly bit-perfect rips I believe you need an optical drive with a specific feature set. I'm sure SD will be around with the details.

Leverage, like Burn Notice and Heroes, was excellent when it started and would have made a great mini series. By dropping or adding onto the initial large plot arcs they have basically spoiled it.

I'm still unfamiliar with tape. I like being able to directly access the contents of media on any computer without using a special program. It also happens that a complete copy of the data is 3.2TB, so 4TB disks make it very easy to take a copy and store it somewhere.

I have 4 4GB Externals on their way; I'll crack at least one of them to see if there is a proper SATA port in there.

Arrived today, replacing a P-series 24" as my secondary at work. The U2711 is at home, so I can't do a side-by-side comparison. At work the monitors are Sharp 42" -> Dell U3011 -> Acer 27" progressing off to my right along the wall with the 42" as primary.

I thought the U2711 had a high resolution. This U3011 is nucking futs. I know the older 30" is better, but it was also twice as much.

Thanks for the detailed assistance Handruin, I appreciate you taking the time. The VM is powered on, and is functioning funkily (occasional 60ms+ latencies and the resulting queue length pile-up, rarely bits of information not being saved). That is one of my worries; backups are not succeeding...

I suspect the disk is failing? What would be the best practice for recovering the VM files to another drive if a clone fails? Is there a more robust method?
