Well, I am now pretty convinced this is a motherboard problem.
I connected an Antec TruePower 430W PS to the board and it did the same thing as when I tried my cheapie 400W PowerMax....the video signal would initialize but the system would just freeze after POSTing with the message on the...
Blake-
Right now I kind of doubt it is a capacitor problem. You might find THIS STORY interesting...at least Abit acknowledged the problem and I believe that have switched to using Japanese Cap. manufacturers (at least that's what I gleaned from the article). My dad's KA7 also had the cap...
Well....unplugging my other non-necessary devices does not change the problem. I had a cheapie PowerMax PSU that I also tried. It is supposidy 400W but the whole system would just freeze during post with that thing. However, it would at least wake the system up.
I've got a BestBuy gift card...
Yeah, it's amazing what a little super-glue and Arctic SIlver 3 can do. I was so pissed off at that thing (I would not accept anything less than 200mhz FSB with my case bundled up) and I had accidentally left the nice skinny tie-wraps at work so I said F*CK IT IT"S JUST A MOTHERBOARD and just...

I got sick of the fact that my Epox 8RDA+'s northbridge would get too hot with my case enclosed so I decided to try out an Abit NF7. I am really loving my NF7 (non-S) for many reasons right now. The sound is much better than on the two 8RDA+'s I had (sound was crackling on those two boards...
I recommend the Atlas 10K III as I had a 36Gigger for a while which I sold to James.
Hell, at that price, if you really want performance (even better than 15K.3) just get two of the damn drives and put them in a Win2K software stripe. :-) That's what I did with my two Cheetah 36ESs.

No, you were right. He was struck on the driver side and pushed into another stationary vehicle (at a stop sign) causing the damage on the passenger side. In person, the car looks like an hour-glass.
A good frined of mine from work got in a car accident last week (wasn't his fault). It's amazing to me that his only injuries were a relatively minor left collar bone fracture (just a crack) and some scrapes. If you want to check out the pix, see the link below. It's just like the GP I used...
I don't think there is a possibility for anything other than an accident here (no terrorist acts).
Let's keep the families involved in our thoughts....

One other thing....
I had to RMA the first board because the onboard LAN was not working. It seems several others have had this issues with nForce2 motherboards. The replacement board works fine.

My experience has been very positive. My board Epox 8RDA+ has been perfect. It is validated for up to 166mhz FSB but I'm running 200mhz with extra cooling on the northbridge.
See the rest of my specs below.
Fushigi-
I think you are missing my point. Making public schools compete rather than just giving them a guaranteed revenue stream will force public schools to look at themselves and improve themselves.
Your suggestion, which just sounds like throwing more money at the schools, won't improve...
My net connection was screwed up last night so I haven't been able to follow this. Good reading this AM though.
Anyway, can anybody tell me what negative consequences there would be from having public schools actually have to compete with other schools for there funding? Naturally, private...
Bravo. jtr!
I agree with you completely. Perhaps forcing all public schools to compete with eachother as well as private schools will help alleviate some of the problems you describe. I believe that forcing schools to be accountable for their performance and enforcing that with funding is the...
LOL. Tell that to the inner city kids who are lucky enough to be able to use 'school of choice' (I think that's what it is called) around here where they have a selection of alternate public schools that they can go tothat are in nicer areas rather than the dumps local to their homes. I bet...
Merc-
You kind of lost me there. In this theoretical situation, how would you be paying for my kids to got to UltraRich school when I'm just getting back my tax dollars that would have otherwise been allocated to my child's education?
I don't know if the de facto state endorsement it really...
I agree public schools are important and, as I said, if I thought they were better I would be happy to use them. But, what incentive do they have to improve their service if they have a guaranteed revenue stream year after year? If you could charge the same amount for selling the same...
Also, I don't believe it would break the pubic schools backs to lose some $ to a private school. It's not like there are *that* many kidsin private schools that it would put them out of business. They can always get their money back from me in a consumption tax where I at least have some level...
time-
I don't think I said anything about all people having to pay for their own schools. I think public schools are great! I'm just saying that people should have the choice to send their kids to the school (public or private) that they want and not be limited to the schools in their city...
Steve-
Yeah, I know about the concave surface. Actually, it isn't that hard to tell just buy looking at it after applying a heatsink with goop on it. I have a nice layer of arctic silver. I'm pretty sure I have good contact...I'm amazed how warm that heatsink gets when I don't have the fan...
After thinking about it today, I decided I'm going to take back that Antec case and move the system back into my Fong Kai
After allowing the system to run for about a day, I realized that the cooling was actually inferior to my Fong Kai AND the case was louder. I should have known that 80mm...
I think my Northbridge cooling worries are now gone. :-) I'm using an old Vantec Pentuim heatsink with a Thermaltake 70mm fan fron a Volcano * (low profile, oem heatsink. See pic below. I'm not sure if I need to run that fan or not but at 7 volts it's pretty quiet so I don't mind it. While...
Those 'Value Line' cases are pretty nice, Merc. I built my dad a system with one of these (from MWave).

I never new it was an Antec (or maybe it really isn't an Antec case?). But, it is nice and solid....

Well-
I've been looking for a reason to get a new case so when I found this nice Antec unit with window and side air intake.
http://www.antec-inc.com/en_plusviewamg.html
I could not resist for $76 after tax. I've never been much of a window person but this was one of the few cases...
These are going for between $20 & $30 on eBay plus shipping.
I will take $20 shipped in USA.
This think is in perfect condition, barely used. I am the original owner.
Here's a pic of what it looks like (not the actual item):

The attachment clips I have are crappy and worn out. I'd like to do as you suggested, (i.e. get a better performing 40mm fan and put it on the Zalman) but I need secure clips to hold the assembly to the board.
Any ideas where I might get some nice clips?
Thanks,
C
CK-
I don't think it's a question of board brand. I think some are lucky and get a cooler running NB. Some aren't and their NB is a little hotter. I'd chalk this up to variability on nVidia's part. Of couse, that's just MO.
C
I guess if I could find a 40mm fan that has higher output than about 7CFM (maybe 10 cfm) and could find a secure way to mount it to my mobo (need better clips) that might work. The Antec 40mm fan I have is 6.5cfm. I'll have to look for a higher performance one. Hmmmmm.
Where can I get some of...
