In Microsoft's version of reality, they'd move to only supporting one OS and people would want theri tablet devices to be susceptible to the same malware bullshit so they could run a copy of Office. Android absolutely has a place, but it has drawbacks of its own.

WTB: Vista or Win7 DVD with Valid Key

If you do, it will be only just. You're seriously better of trying to do that with XP or with a Linux install. My classroom install of Win7 + Office is 28GB including the pagefile and hibernation file. That's not much room for useful data storage.

I find it very difficult to find the hot spots on the touch screen to bring metro back up and the charms menu and the like. My touchscreen is 1920x1080 rather than more typical resolutions, but it's not something that I should be fighting with.

.ape does kind of annoy me, but I'm surprised that release groups stuck with xvid as long as they did. I'm also surprised that there came to be an ecosystem of compatible hardware. I guess I just never paid any attention to that.

The install is just writing out a disk image. It's ridiculously straightforward. Mine runs on an 8GB SSD. Performance seems to depend on available RAM more than anything else. The support documents I've read seem to suggest that an individual zpool should have four or five drives in it. Mine...

Seriously, spend the extra $30 or whatever it is to get a Technet Standard sub. You'll get two keys for each version of Windows that can each be re-used 11 or 21 times (depending on version), plus you'll get MS Office keys.

With all of HBO's original programming, I might find four or eight worthwhile hours of programming there in a typical month. I'd pay $10 to $15 for that, in line with what I'd pay for three movie tickets or a one month subscription to an MMO. However, the day that HBO - which has always been...

SSDs - State of the Product?
