Since he's the one in the 2,000lb. race car and the teams you named are just a bunch of pansies in 40lbs. of plastic armor, I'd say his chances are pretty good.

Yet another way sport could be made better: Have several of the more mutually exclusive ones happen in the same place at the same time.

e.g.

Basketball + Hockey
Golf + Motocross + Blindfolded Skeet Shooting
Track & Field + NASCAR
Marathon + Monster Truck Rally
Figure Skating + Olympic Diving
Curling + Beach Volleyball
Bowling + Football

Imagine the possibilities! Think of the hundreds of career-ending injuries! Plus, all of the above are something I'd actually watch.

After 10 games:

Tampa Bay - 4-6
New England - 8-2
Giants - 4-6
49ers - 5-5
Cleveland - 4-6

Out of five picks, only one is even going to the playoffs. :(

Wow did I ever put my foot in my mouth with this thread. "On any given Sunday" certainly applies to the NFL this year.

I'll bet that one team will defeat the other but at least 1 point. It will not end in a tie. :)

heheh. That brings up several mental images.
And just WHAT kind of diving are you talking about, young man? :drl:

Figure Skating, Olympic Diving, and Ice Carving.....

Have the drivers slowly etch away at the bottom of the ice as the figure skaters must avoid the traps being set for them :D

I think the whole damn "sport" is about one and a half innuendoes away from being "the heartbreaking story of two large groups of men in love".

"Pile-up"
"Fullback"
"Tackle"
"Tight End"

That weird thing they do to give the throwing-guy the ball.
The uniform: skin-tight leggings and armor that overemphasizes the chest and shoulders.

... and the eternal struggle to get the ball into the "end-zone".

Homoerotic subtext much?

I predict that I will not be watching the game.

Same here. To me football looks like a bunch of guys standing around waiting for a signal to start steamrolling into each other, and then every time the action starts to get interesting the referee blows the whistle and everyone stands around for too long waiting for the next cue to start. In other words, too many lengthy pauses to hold my attention for very long. I have no idea of the rules of the game and I'm not interested in learning. Golf is about the only game which seems more boring to me.

I really wish someone would bring back gladiatorial games. The kind where people chop each other's heads off and the ring gets filled with blood and body parts. At least that would justify a $20 million annual salary when each and every day could be your last.

Two groups of men in love. I'm telling you. The whole thing is a backrub away from gay porn.

I'd put smilies, but I'm not kidding.

Wow, what a game. Damn shame that retard Panthers coach went for the two point conversion so early, prob cost them the game, or at least overtime.

.

That's what a ReplayTV/Tivo is for. It's usually right around 30 secs between plays, so as soon as one down is finished, hit the 30sec skip and away you go right into the action again. And you can skip past all the half time crap as a bonus :)

There were many cases of this for both sides. Pats missed an opportunity to gain 3 points for a field goal and gave the ball to the Panthers for an interception.

What was up with that guy from the stands who came out onto the field?

Yeah, a slow start but great finish. I think the Panthers kicker kicking it out of bounds was what cost them the game. That's something the Giants are quite familiar with. :(

I'm predicting a three goal win by Sydney over Brisbane. Collingwod will dip out in one of the Preliminary Finals, and the other team to make the top four ..... Hmmm .... Port? Essendon? Hard to say.

I was thinking more the Greg Louganis type of acrobatic high-diving... into a solid sheet of ice.

Or maybe a partially frozen swimming pool. That'd be more interesting for the hockey players.
