Hmmm, funny. There seems to be a small price war going on here with ADSL lines. I pay 51 euros for my 1/512 line now. That will be upgraded to 2/512 for the same price.

But I opted for the next version and ordered an 8/1 for 59 euros. :)

How do these prices now compare to other cuntries?

I am omnipresent
My service is nominally $30 a month for 1Mbit down/128k up, but it's bundled in with my (otherwise unused) phone service and cell phone.

Cable, not DSL. 3Mb/256Kb for $56.95/month - $14 credit for bundling with digital cable TV + $3/month cable modem rental - $45.95/month reimbursement from work = $0. 8)

Compared to the 1.5Mb service before Comcast supposedly doubled the speed, I'd say it feels closer to 2Mb. DSLReports mostly backs that up.

The competition here in in the UK has hotted up quite a bit over the past few months, particularly since B.T (main teleco provider) lost it's monopoly over the local loop (from the local exchange to houses & business premises) & promised to made ADSL available in almost all parts of the country (except for the most remote exchanges). My 512Kb/256Kb uncapped service (£19p/m) has dropped by £2 a month since I signed up in 2002 :D , whilst there's now a 1Mb/256Kb option available for £29.99 p/m. Other ISPs are also cutting prices, although the main ones (Wannado, AOL, B.T Broadband) still charge well over £20 p/m for the basic service (BT do a cheaper offer, but it's capped) and £30+ p/m for 1Mb/£40 for 2Mb. The cable alternatives are slightly faster (750Kb/128Kb and 3Mb/256Kb), but correspondingly more expensive (£28 p/m & 49 p/m unless part of a package with phone & TV) and aren't available in many areas.

I'm currently on 1.5M/256k for ~$30

Looking at switching to 3M/416k for ~$40

Found one. Current speed is 1.2 megabits per second. Average ADSl
is .85. T-1 is 1.54.

Bundled with my phone, the rate went from 50 to 29 dollars for the year.
Likely to go back up, soon.

My ISP has a bunch of packages.

http://www1.wowway.com/wowPricing.asp?id=1003

Here's the fastest one:
4Mb/512 + Basic Cable for $75.99 per month
or just
4Mb/512 w/o cable for $54.99

I currently get digital cable + 10 HBOs and 2Mb/512kbps for $87 right now. My rate will jump up a bit in Jan. though as I'm on last years plan.
