In one of those weird cases of synchronicity, I've been asked by two different people in the last couple days about the possibility of getting a computer in a color other than black or beige.

One of them wants a neon green case, the other wants pink.
Yes, pink. Yes, it's for a girl.

I'm not seeing many good options. Both of these are for people who can afford to get fairly nice hardware. I'm wondering if the best option is just to tell them to get a regular Antec case and have it airbrushed or something. The selection from my usual suspects for case purchasing is pretty much non-existent.

I've had stuff sandblasted and powder-coated before. Wasn't too expensive, and left an awesome result. Of course, the case couldn't have any plastic bits.

Why not? Maybe it would clash with your decor, but children like strong colors.
Decor? No such thing here. Even my squished mosquito work of art is gone (I do wash my walls at times). My place would make a harden soldier sad. Oh I'm all for strong colors too : strong black, strong chrome and strong blue.

Also, I realised that my previous post could have been interprete as an undirect attack at Bozo. It wasn't. It was just a statement concerning myself and just me.

Found another. It would need a bit of dremel work at the rear and replacement of the fans for better ones, but it is otherwise ok.

Ah shit, I think I've found the case for the second customer. It was an accident. This case is available in red. But if you search for the red variant, you'll see it's quite an ugly kind of red. I won't link it, just search it.

I'm still trying to man up my monitor after it displayed that.

Coug, I'd just like to point out that there are some pretty awesome things in this world that are pink and if you don't know what those things are I suggest watching more porn. Or, y'know, getting some special lady time. Either way.

I need an all green case though, not mostly black with green accents. Cases like that used to at least be available options. Newegg even had DVD drives with odd bezel colors.

I don't really see the raison d'être for the LianLi V354, except for the USB 3.0 ports and that it's available in red/pink ...

CougTek, an episode of QI explained that up to the 1940's, pink was considered a manly color best suited for boys, while blue was more appropriate for girls.

You can confirm this for yourself on Wikipedia and other references.

Well then it's a good thing I'm not yet 70 or I might have dressed funny.

Concerning the Lian Li, SPCR liked it, especially for low-power systems. Its cooling capacity is reasonable. And since it would be for a girl customer, then there's no need for power-hungry components. As long as she can log on Facebook, she should be happy.

And I have nothing against pink on girls. Now let me just check [walking to the bathroom to pee] : "Oh my God, I'm not a girl". So I find no good reason to have pink around me.

Maybe she wants to play high end games or actually use the computer for something productive that requires decent performance to work well. All children don't spend all their time socially networked. Some are precocious and quite intelligent.
