Do you think this will actually stick / bend the market? Intel is not the market leader anymore.

So the motherboard is going to supply 3.3 & 5.0V for drives? (n)

I can understand the spec being used in something an Inwin Chopin style case, where you only have the CPU, motherboard, some RAM and an M.2 device attached, but for general DIY builds, it may gain the same amount of traction as the BTX motherboard spec...

In some scenarios, it makes a lot of sense... In others, well, not so much.

Love to see how a motherboard is to power a bank of 16+ SAS drives? Or will that force the SAS backplane (if using one) to take 12V in, and have it's own downstep to 3.3V and 5V?

Now extend that to 16 SATA drives in something like a Norco or Chenbro case?

Or are we going to see other 12V DC-DC converter boxes added to the system?

I don't think that this is going to make it past OEM systems which can save money by doing it this way.

There's not enough in it for your average builder to switch.

Probably will be marketed to those "high-end," "custom," "stupid-money" builders that want a super custom looking cable management setup.
