That's not true, the jvm is available for Linux.
I think he was referring to the not hard part. Meaning he feels lots of things about Linux are hard.

In which case I would type yum install open-jdk java-1.6.0-openjdk.x86_64 and hit enter. Real fucking hard.
OK, I installed it. But really, why should that be necessary just to test the internet speed? Does the newer Windows or latest Mac OS X have that pre-installed?

Most or all internet speed tests require some type of binary executable to run. There are several ways you can run these in a browser: Flash, Java Applet, Silverlight, ActiveX, or JavaFX. Flash and Java are the most ubiquitous plugins that people have installed, so that is why you need to install it.
No. Windows has not come with a Java Virtual Machine since 2001. See Sun Vs. Microsoft for more information.
I don't believe that OS X comes with a JVM either, but I could be wrong.
