Does anyone have the current 750GB XT drive? Since receiving the new ultraportable laptop with decent CPU, the sluggishness of the 1TB 5400 rpm drive is more apparent. :( I can usually live with a smallish drive in NA.

I am omnipresent
I have a couple 500GB ones. Subjectively, they're not game-changers compared to other 7200rpm drives, but they do help when powering on or resuming the machine from hibernate.

Can the hyperdrive in 7 be disabled? I don't want to waste the 8gb SSD flesh on that memory.

Why not an SSD?

The largest are only 512GB. I may settle on an SSD and a standard hard drive for now if I can find the right carrier to fit a drive in the optical bay. From what I read there will be native 1TB SSDs next year.
