My now dead PC ran a W98 VMWare VM inside VMWare Workstation 4 in XP Pro.

I'm planning to use VMWare Converter to convert the physical XP installation into a VM, then run this VM inside Win7-64 using VMWare Player. Will I be able to access the W98 VM inside the WinXP VM? Basically running one VM inside of another?

Thanks.

Current high-end Intel CPUs support VT-x/EPT which allows nested virtualisation instances. However I don't know if VMWare player can actually do it itself. (IIRC, ESXi can, but don' know about Player).

I'm with the rest in expecting it can, however I would recommend just pulling the VM files out to your 7 build and running the 98 VM alongside the XP VM, instead of inside it.

This, thould be easy to pull the machine out and make it stand alone.

Thanks all. The ideal situation would be to be able to run the W98 VM in Player 5 directly in W7-64. I'll be very happy with that. Will post back when I reach that stage.
