I would like to set a computer as a host to two virtual operating systems.
The host system does not need any network connection for any reason. But, I cannot disable the network cards as that would prevent the virtual systems from using them.
The 'real' network cards will be plugged into a network that uses DHCP. I can go into the network cards properties (host OS = XP) and uncheck 'Use DHCP...' but then it wants a hard address. That's not a problem except the software that monitors the system will see the new computer and send up red flags and alarms that there is a non-compliant computer on the network. That would mean installing patches, updates, service pack, and anti-virus software. And then maintaining all the above. :crap:
Does anyone know of a way to make the host OS invisable but still usable?

Thanks,
Bozo :joker:

If you give the host OS a static IP that is outside everything used by your company, it shouldn't show up anywhere. Or you could uninstall the TCP/IP stack from the host OS...

Can you assign the entire network card as a PCI device to one of the VMs and then use it to route traffic to the other one? That way uninstalling it in the host OS should have no negative affects. I know this can be done with Xen but I'm unsure otherwise...

Going to each network connection (properties) and unchecking the TCP/IP box worked great. Now the host OS is invisable to all our network sniffers but they work fine with the virtual OSs.

Thanks DD
