Intel is abandoning the Pentium 4 architecture that gave us Willamette, Northwood and Prescott. Instead, Intels next core will be based on the Pentium-M (Banias)/Pentium !!! core - possibly dual core as well.
The stated reason is that power consumption is too difficult to control in a timely manner.
