For those doing/planning to do video encoding, here's a comparison of the processors worth using for that task.

The 13 processors are tested with Divx, Xvid, MPEG 1 and MPEG 2, just to name a few.

I'm surprised that AMD processors do so well.

Since P4s are designed for multimedia tasks and outclock the AMD processors, I'd think that Intel would leave them in the dust.

Well, 2.4C beats Barton 2500+ in nearly every test, as it should (basing on previous tests). I'm quite surprised to see Cel 2.4 so near to 2.4Cs in some tests.

Although merely a curiosity, would the Hyper-Threading CPUs perform somewhat better if one'd run two (or even more) encodings at the same time?
