I have 1 1000ps I'm actively running plus 2 smaller ones in storage. But yeah they probably are that old.

Nope, I plugged it in, let it charge, and then made it live. I'll be back there tomorrow and can check it out then. The load is super-small, but I wanted a unit with an 80mm fan.

That's the first thing to look at when recommending a UPS unit IMO. If it can't hold a charge for long, then it's not worth shit. That's the primary job of a UPS afterall.

I went ahead and bought one. I'll see what it can do sometime next week. Assuming it doesn't explode when I plug it in, I'm sure it will be OK.

Yes. Opti says they're UL/cUL (1X0V), CE, and GOST-R (2X0v) certified.
I don't know what any of that crap means besides UL.

At the time I bought mine it was the only company producing true sine wave UPSs for consumer prices.

Quick review: Yup, it's a UPS. It didn't explode when I plugged it in. I opened it up and the battery replacement procedure is simple enough. I get more than five minutes of run time out of it for two machines with 500W PSUs and probably a dozen hard drives between them. Looks good so far.
