hi,

I'm after a DVD/CDRW combo drive to replace my CD-RW drive. the main things I want to acheive is the ability to rip DVD at speeds faster than my Pioneer 106D. even with hacked firmware, it still only does 6-8x DVD rip for pressed DVD5 discs only. non-pressed DVD5 and DVD9 discs can only be ripped at 2x.

can anyone recommend a DVD/CDRW combo drive with a fast DVD's rip speeds, preferably available in black?

thanks,

Tim

Oops, forgot to mention all four non-pressed formats turn in ~6x according to the review ... I've only checked with a -R but can confirm the speed in that case.

I'm a fan of Lite-On drives so all in all it looks to be just what I'm after.

thanks very much CityK

And with Lite-On, you're sure you'll have firmware updates for a while, something that cannot be said about many other manufacturers.

My Lite-On drives have the best media compatibility among all brands I've used (many, my temper forces me to change drives often).
