Thanks for the info! I was considering the HD version, but delaying because of the cost. Getting it at a discount is rather nice but also with lifetime update! Do you know if this will also work with regular DVDs? The description sounds like it does.

Eskimos might want better ice. I'm not able to make my own BluRay ripping tools.

Let me follow that up with this isn't a case of wanting to steal the DVD content. I take from your comment that you're assuming I'm not willing to pay for the DVD so why am I going to pay for the software to rip the discs? I want to convert the disc media I currently own into a digital archive to use through my media center.

And, for the price, it offers a better and easier option. Only once I had a disk it couldn't handle. After the next update (a week?) it went without issue.

If your goal is free ice, why would you pay for a better icemaker when you can get it for free too.

I wasn't necessarily referring to all you fine folks. Clearly a large part of their target market isn't willing to pay for the discs they use the software on, in which case trying to sell your software product primarily to copyright violators doesn't seem like the best sales strategy.

I don't understand is what the free ice maker is? Are you saying their target market should be stealing their product? I don't see how the ice and Eskimo really fits. Eskimos can make free ice because it's very easy to do because it's cold out. Copying a BluRay isn't easy to do if you don't have a tool to help you. If the example Eskimo was in the warm desert it would be a better analogy.

Really simply if you have a non HDCP compliant video path like me with a KVM switch or analog monitor or older video card this is the only program that will let you play the movie on your computer.

Also this enables you to rip the movie so you can play it on other mobile devices phones psp whatever.

Don't really care what the studios say, I should be able to do that.

Yeah, basically their target market is prone to pirate their product.

All analogies always break down. I tried to come up with one really quick. Clearly it broke down a little fast.
