At this time we, the members of StorageForum would like to take a minute to express our ongoing gratitude for the considerable time and effort that you have undertaken on our behalf. You have provided us with friendship and community for more than a decade now, and to express our thanks for all that you've given us, the membership has donated a total of $700 that we hope can be used to defray the costs of running the site, to improve it or just to improve your life some how.

Wow! I am thankful and grateful for all the gratitude and generosity of this kind gesture. I have been very fortunate over the years to be able to afford hosting this website for us. I've never sought after any kind of compensation for this and if there were ever the time when I was not able to provide hosting due to expenses I would have started a discussion to find a way. $700 is a lot to collect in donations and is very generous. I don't feel comfortable with having that as a means to improve my life, but I would like to ask how it could be used to improve this site?

Well, you could pay for a new version of vBulletin (if there's some reason to upgrade) and/or pay for the hosting costs...

They are still for kids, but I enjoy the ones geared for adults also (Pixar...no anime porn...though some of that is bizarrely interesting). I can see why it would not appeal to everyone even if your finances allowed for it. What's your dislike about it?

Well, you could pay for a new version of vBulletin (if there's some reason to upgrade) and/or pay for the hosting costs...

The main reason to upgrade would be for all the latest and greatest patches. My fear with upgrading is it will be a change from what we have now and people may hate the changes.

We've trusted your judgment regarding forum software for this long. If nothing else, the money should pay hosting costs for a while.

Indeed. Thanks Handruin for making this place such an easy place to be. Free and low-stress hangouts are very few on the web. That should keep the place hosted for a while, or add an option on the S4...however you want it.

Justin Thimberlake. Also, it may be temper-related, but one of the first thing I check with a car is how well it fares in collision tests and the S4, while not bad, isn't particularly good either. In the same price range, the BMW 5 series is better.

You can see the money as a payback for the hosting cost of the site. I remember we gave you a computer system in the early years of the site. The entire contribution at the time was probably similar to what we did this time. According to the thread I started regarding the charge of operating a forum (I don't really have a young cousin looking to host a gamer community), it cost close to 200$ per year. That's ~2000$ from your pocket since the beginning of the forum. We paid two times 700$, the rest was your money. You are still the main financial contributor by far.

I appreciate the breakdown of numbers, but in reality anything that was contributed is very generous regardless of of how much it really costs to host the site. I do thank everyone for contributing to keep the site going and also as the gesture to use for myself. I know there were a couple of times I outlined rough numbers of what it may cost to run this small site, but it was never meant to solicit any kind of contribution. I do promise that if I were to be in a position that needed help, I would make it clear before anything were to happen to the site so that it may stay up and running, even if by someone else.

I would like to put the money towards the forum upgrade as I mentioned earlier. I think that will go a long way in keeping us up to date on security patches and other features that could aid in keeping the noise out of the forum (spammers). I was also considering using a small portion to contribute to the StopForumSpam project because it is one of the best tools in fighting the good fight against all the spam. Without it I would go insane with remove so many fake accounts. It really has stopped 99% of the spam that we would normally see. I would also like to use a small portion of it to pledge to a charity fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis research in the name of Storageforum.net (unless anyone genuinely objects to this). I'm participating in a walk to raise awareness for a few close friends I know who are battling the disease and I would like to help one friend meet her goal this April.

As I mentioned earlier I do feel very fortunate and lucky to be in positive financial state and I would like to see the generosity help this community and also others rather than me spend it on something gratuitous. Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate it.
