Ha, absurd.

For the indecisive consumer who can't decide between salty and sweet...we have sweetened salt.

I think it's pretty bad that some fries (or chips depending where you are from) can have up to 9 additional ingredients besides potato, oil and salt.

Hungry Jacks (aka Burger King) uses 3 additional ingredients on their fries to make them appear white and stay crispy after cooking. One of those ingredients has been mentioned to have addictive properties for a small percentage of the population.

I thought it was in there to reduce the 'saltiness', therefore you would use more and then have to buy more. :bigeek:

I can get them here for $4 a bottle (after shipping), but I can't bring myself to pay more for shipping than for the product. Time to borrow the company Costco card and make a trip. I really hate shopping in physical stores, but it might still be early enough to avoid the Christmas music.

I am just so screwed - in two different ways. :x

The good news is that the candy bar I had today contained no HFCS and the Tums contained sucrose. :elephant:

If this was a Friday I would think potentially becoming a victim of downsizing. That became all too familiar at a previous job. It was like "who the f### is going today", find out two friends are packing their shit, and then I come in Monday and a surprise 3rd has been disabled in the active directory. Didn't even have the balls to let those who remain know...

Ah well, water under the bridge.

At my last job I keep enabling the account after he called me while they were disabling him in the other room. He and I came to an agreement after the third time that today was his last day.

Anyone going to watch The Walking Dead season premiere tonight on AMC? I've read several of the comics and I really enjoyed it. It's about to start in 5 minutes here on the east coast.

Halloween reminds me of my car being egged in the 70s and lipstick writing on the hood. It was not a good night. :(

I know the feeling. At one job I had in the very early '90s, I was in charge of IT security, and used to get a list of terminations (in advance) every couple of days. After a few months, I would puke at the thought of this and quit my job in the middle of a major recession in S. CA, vowing never to work in corporate America again but instead work on my own. Of course I had to eat crow, as did a lot of people who got hammered by a brutal several years of recession.

I've had it for about a week and a half and I downloaded the 2GB HD version last night for watching when I get home. I'm a big fan of the comic. My copy of the volume 1 hardcover was signed by Kirkman, Moore and Adlard.

Chicago's Comic Con this year was held at the same time as a nation of Islam convention, so while I was wandering around the show floor I could see all the humorless African American men in black suits with bow ties watching our con from the observation deck above the show floor. On the way out of the con I tried very hard to get one of the Nation of Islam guys to pose with a 501st Legion (Stormtrooper) guy but they weren't having any of it.

Also: I am out of disk space. I have less than 110GB free, total, across my file servers. Ugh.

Average is probably 5GB a day. Beginnings of new months throw the average way, way off for a variety of reasons.

But now I'm going to have to figure out which 2TB drives play best with SoftRAID, because I know for sure that Seagate and Samsung 5400rpm drives both cause more problems than they solve in that application. Blech.

5GB is average but I just looked and yesterday it was 44GB and the day before it was 31GB. So I might be low-balling things a little.

It was okay. I'm not sure there's really enough there to keep me watching though. Primarily because I'm not sure that the premise will really work for me in a serialized show since it's pretty depression. Also, the topic seems so overdone recently between the Resident Evil films, 28 Days Later / 28 Weeks Later, Doomsday, and some of the vampire films like Daybreakers.

The first episode matches up with the first issue of the comic almost exactly.
There are 75 issues of the comic.

One of the things that's different about the Walking Dead is that it's character driven. It's not about the zombies. It's not about the apocalypse. It's about what happens after. The titular "walking dead" are actually the survivors and what they have to do in order to live.

The down side is that the guy who writes the comics isn't very good at writing endings.

As near as I can tell, neither Seagate nor Samsung 5400rpm 2TB drives work well for RAID5/6 applications. I can expand storage on two of my storage servers by adding 1TB drives but that seems slightly less than optimal. My other option is to use 2TB 7200rpm drives, but they're more than three times the cost.

This is very annoying.

There are a number of posts on other tech forums about 5400rpm drives dropping out of arrays. I don't really want to invest in eight or 10 drives if they're going to do that.

I have an 8 drive 1.5TB 5400RPM Samsung RAID-6 array and it's behaved quite well. I've got the drives here to put together a 8 x 2TB 5400RPM Samsung RAID-6 array, so I'll find out soon enough.

That's more or less the same configuration I'm contemplating, though in the interim I think I'm going to be deleting some data.

FWIW, I currently have 5x 1.5 TB 5400 RPM Samsung drives in RAID 5 and I haven't had any issues yet. I will soon be moving it to a 8x 1.5TB in RAID 6 once my new drive is replaced due to it being DOA from newegg.

Could it be the controller rather than the drives?

People are just sick

In the same line of unsuspected meaning as what I discovered there, I've been recently surprised by the results Google gave me on something else.

I'm a football fan (real, manly American football, not that soccer game where a bunch of wuss throw themselves to the ground, screaming and crying, every time an opponent moves some air next to them). When watching the last New York's Jets game last Sunday, my brother told me that Mark Sanchez (Jets' quarterback) was called "Dirty Sanchez" because he once ate a hot dog between two offensive plays. He's suposed to be famous too for having a very unhealthy diet. Hence his nickname : Dirty Sanchez.

I wanted to see the sequence where he ate the hot dog so I searched "dirty sanchez" on Google. What I found in the results had nothing to do with football.

People are just sick.

Well, yeah.

Also, I'm told that the correct term for the sport you're discussing is "Armored American Wankball." But that's neither here nor there.

In closing, there is nothing on this earth so capable of depressing the shit out of a guy as not being able to find anybody to talk to on a personals site.
