By the way, f...k stanford. My uncle, his father, all went, and graduated. They paid the bastards too. Did I get in, applying Magna Sum laude, 3.73, from St. Mary's, to their law school?
No.
Guess I need to play the tuba....or be black...

If they want to pay my PG&E bill, I'll be happy to run my dual Xeon rig with their program...

There is no reason, other then affirmitive action that I don't have a law degree from Stanford, instead of JFK.

I should say, that's not true. My uncle, and his father should have contributed more money, then I'd have a frigging Stanford law degree.
So, I'll die in hell before I run folding @ home for Stanford...

Or do better on the LSAT test.

It is your personal choice to fold: I'm not trying to push it. I donate my computer cycles (and electricity) because I believe in the cause not because I wish to support Stanford.

LSAT is a test designed to perpetuate the status quo. As a older, wiser, experienced person, I didn't fit the profile, or limited life experience to do well on the LSAT. I did OK.
If I was 23 when I took it, I would have scored in the top 3%, and, they would have been chasing me.
Truth is, age is NOT a affirmitive action issue, yet.

I'll be dead by the time white people have a fair chance to get into such schools...

I'm sorry. Let's get this straight. My uncle, his father, both went, and graduated from Stanford. Both my uncle's sons, and myself border on genius, at least according to our test scores.
None of us have been admitted. I guess my uncle, and his father didn't pay the bastards enough fucking money. So, let's get this straight.

My family went there. They lived at 1550 Middlefield road, Palo Alto, CA.
So Fuck Stanford.

Is that clear enough how and why I feel that way?

If you support the cause, you might email them, and explain that alumni despise the school because they would take someone that plays the tuba over someone with a 3.73, and a decent LSAT score.

I hope that when I die AA action dies with me, and, that my debt is passed to the fucking government that made it happen.

Recently sent to Stanford admissions:
Hi folks

Just want to say thanks for not admitting me to law school.
My uncle, Leland Smith Jr. and his father, Leland Smith Sr. attended S... and graduated.
They made a LOT of money in construction, and, I hope they never paid you a dime, after graduating.

I applied, with a 3.73 GPA from St. Marys, UCSC, and, I was denied admission.

I graduated from Law School.

Thanks and, I will never give you a dime.

You reap what you deserve.

Sincerely

Gregory Santilli J.D.
Lisa Trapani J.D. Esquire

PS:
Just to be clear: I will do everything I can to stop anyone in my family from ever giving you a dime.
I will always savior the story that you took a tuba player in the law school because you needed one, despite more qualified candidates.
Your support of AA will go with me to the grave. Excuse my obscenity, but, go fuck yourselves.
God, thank you. I feel much better after saying that....

I lived less than a mile from there, and I was also not admitted. I think I'm OK with that.

I'm against affirmative action as well, but I'm also not particularly for nepotism.

Most high profile schools weight "legacy" applicants very, very heavily, since successful parents are also likely to be big donors once their kids get in. It's not entirely nepotism (the parents are not DIRECTLY responsible for admission, anyway) so much as helping to ensure that the endowment gets shored up.

This also explains how George W. Bush managed to attend Yale despite is grapefruit-level IQ.

Sorry folks. It just REALLY hit a nerve. Feel free to delete the posts, or the obscenity.

Should not have posted this in a good thread.

HOW can David NOT get in?

It's SO arbitrary at this point, it's a joke.

I'm just thinking my legal education would not have been any better, but, I'd have a degree from Stanford. WOW. The one time I do have an in, other then my parents and family and the UC system, and, I don't get in...

There was a girl I dated in Hawaii that had it figured out. She went to Harvard night school for one year, got her MBA, and had it up on the wall. For some reason, in Hawaii, that just opened tons of doors. I guess a Harvard night school degree was sort of a status thing similar to Channel, or one of the designers to the Japanese.

She said it was easy to get in, and, very easy, school wise. They wanted the 40 grand.

Stanford doesn't flunk anyone out of the law school, by the way.

We did have a student from St. Mary's get in to Law School because they played the tuba, and the band needed a tuba player...

And these are supposed to be 'elite' schools. What a joke.

I'm under the impression that ddrueding was a bit of a fuckhead when he was younger. ;)

Getting in to those school requires either a great deal of talent or a lot of social pull. My oldest brother went to Northwestern as a C student from a poor-quality high school basically because my dad had some pull with some important people at Northwestern.

The University of Illinois, which is just a state school (albeit a very good one) is in the midst of a scandal right now due to an administrative policy to admit underqualified students who somehow make a VIP list.

I'll bet every well-unknown college in the country has a list like that.

Is that 1540/2100 - the one with the essay, or 1540/1600, the old style test?
'Cause IIRC you're too young to have taken the test I took.

1480/1600, 3.8GPA.

Well, I used to bowl in Berkeley/Albany with an IT guy from the school. He was pretty good, but David's FAR better. On the otherhand David doesn't have to try and make Mac Pluses work for a starting programing class.

Did you check, and do they have, a night school?

Berkeley Extension is another way to go, for people that don't have the numbers for admissions.

David, building a GPA wouldn't be that hard. You could start at a Community College, heck, more like you should be teaching there, and build your's up.

Did you get into Stanford?

I only applied to Indiana U and Purdue since my parents weren't helping me with tuition and I didn't think I could afford loan payments on private or out of state schools.

I was also accepted to Rice and some Liberal Arts schools I never formally applied to.

I remember looking at MIT's admissions paperwork and seeing my GPA/SAT score adding up to an estimated 60% chance of admission.

I applied to MIT. After meeting their graduates, I'm very glad that I didn't get in.

What really bugs me is the very high tuition, and, then they have the audacity to get other people to pay their electric bills, not to mentions the billions donated by alumni.

You ok Greg?

No, this hit a nerve. One of the richest, most liberal, and corrupt schools around, and, they are getting other people to pay for their computer cycles.

Please delete my obscene language. Also having a few other problems right now.

Sorry for the flip out.

Sincerely
GS

An interesting footnote is that MIT and Berkeley would both have had me, apparently they had room for "troubled kids with potential" or something like that...

You guys make my 1340/1600 feel like the village idiot. I was accepted to MIT & Cal Tech but had financial circumstances similar to Merc so I wound up at Rose-Hulman. This was back in the early to mid '80s.

I kind of nailed those tests, but, they were on a 1200 point scale. SAT 590/English, 595 Math(I missed one? WHY?)
1195/1200
Achievement Tests: 590/595/600. The 600 was in math, and, that was more like it.
I'd already decided to go to a JC, Cabrillo, and then transfer to UCSC. My GPA was 3.5, thanks to French and language challenged.

Back then, and they do now as well, if you scored over 2750 on the combined tests, you were admitted to any school you wanted to go to. In retrospect, UCSC was OK, but, it was populated by communist/socialists on leave from Berkeley, since it had just opened.
UC San Diego probably would have been a better fit.
My cousin and his son, my Dad, and my best friend from high school went to Berkeley, and, I can't stand the place.

It's odd, but, I just didn't think much of Harvard, Yale, or Stanford. I guess I just didn't have enough knowledge to know about the
oligarchy they were in the process of creating, in law and politics.

I was 18 of 463 from St. Mary's, when I finished, Magna Cum Laude, 3.73. Law school took a bit, but, averaged 78 on a 85 scale, and, had the highest grade on the first year cumulative exam at the school. 75/75/75 on a 75 scale.

Now I'm laid off, thanks to the Kali budget, and, I'm just kind of hitting bottom. So to answer Handurin, no, I'm not all right...

Slacker! Rose-Hulman is a total party school. ;)
Well, we didn't do too bad even if it was an all-male school at the time. We would draw girls from St. Mary of the Woods (all female..) or ISU-Terre Haute. The St. Marys girls weren't much, but ISU had some nice ones, including one who later wound up being my first wife.

And I kid you not, one guy go so trashed during the homecoming dorm party (in October) that he didn't start to actually remember that night until the following May. He was so wasted they poured him into bed 23 times (literally; I remember the count to this day). His roommate took his shirt, which had gotten stained from spilled drinks, and pinned it to the ceiling above his bed. But he didn't learn the lesson. I can't recall if it was sophomore or junior year but I one time went out into the hall and found him turning the water fountain on, then off, then on, then off, and so on. Just staring at it, drunk yet again. The thing was, he had perfect memory so even though his blood alcohol was higher than my frickin' SAT scores he still had an A- average.

HMMM.
We had some guys that lived in our apartments when I was in High School that went to St. Mary's.

One of the guys got really drunk, and, woke up with a Mallard duck under his covers, male.

Isn't St. Mary's of the Woods just Notre Dame for girls?
I really don't think they have guys there.

Though it certainly might've been a different St. Mary's.

I despise Berkeley, and, I have relatives, and I've taken a class or two there. Be glad you didn't go...

For once, however, it appears they judged talent correctly, and, were not blinded by the color of your skin...

WTF? How is an educational background related to implementing a SSD? It doesn't take an Ivy League PhD to appreciate the benefits. ;)
