Does anybody have some of these? The low power, heat and noise are appealing. How effective is the variable RPM function; i.e., is there a lag that affects performance? Thanks.

Evil. Poorly manufactured and not worth the money. Plus I will no longer have any respect for you.

Why is it not worth it? What did I say to deserve that remark?

Don't take it personal Lunar. Mercutio hates WD that much.

So I'm intrigued, this drive has a variable RPM? it says from 5400 to 7200 RPM. I hadn't seen that yet in a drive. Maybe SR will have a review of it in the next year or two.

Wow, what an advertising crock! Apparently 5400-7200 is a descriptor for the type of drive, not the true RPM. :(

Its performance is pretty solid compared to lots of other drives regardless of the RPM it spins at.

I'm not against the drive per se, just the misleading rpm.
