One thing's for sure: avoid the Vantec Stealth ...
Speaking about Vantec Stealth stuff, last year about this time I had to replace a 80mm Stealth Fan because it developed a really annoying chirp.

The Stealth provided as replacement has, as of lately, started to intermittently do the same thing ... only this time it sounds more on the "squeaky" side of things. I'm pretty sure that if I wanted to listen to something squeaky rotate around and around, I would have been better served by getting a hamster.

CityK, meet timwhit. timwhit, CityK. Play Simpsons Jeopardy until a victor emerges. Last man standing wins! :)

I accept the challenge of Mr. Sparkle

But seriously, how could you play over the internet? All one has to do is visit http://www.snpp.com/episodeguide.html]the Simpsons archive[/url] and the world is your oyster....provided you have an oyster mallet....which wasn't made in the USA

Now you got me intrigued. What form factor Gary? SATA connectors?

Being something "modern" (100%fan-less & fans-that-only-run-if-needed Antec power supplies), I would guess at least 2 permanet SATA connectors being present (hopefully), or they may simply include 1 or 2 power convertors as part of the package.

How about Thermaltake power supplies, such as the Silent Pure Power 480w (W0013)?

The reason I bring this up is because the good recommendation and results this power supply yielded with a recent Anandtech comparison.

Overview
Noise
Wattage Test

There are, of course, other tests that they reported on, but in comparison this particular Thermaltake PSU seemed pretty competent, albeit, not the best in everything with this group.

Yes, as I said before, it will do in a pinch when the Big 3 aren't available. My quiet PSU rankings look like this (*1):

--- virtually silent ---
1. Seasonic Super Silencer
2. Ahanix SilenX 14 dBA
3. Zalman ZM400A-APF
4. Nexus NX-300 and other FSP based PSU's like the FSP 400-60PFN
5. Verax F300PPFC-80KP
--- quiet ---
6. Thermaltake SPP 420/480 APD
7. Antec TruePower 380S (only in the Sonata)
8. Antec TruePower 380/430

There is little separating the top 5. The Tt is audible enough that one cannot consider it virtually silent.

*1 - based on reading dozens of reviews on the Net (including the respected SPCR), and with personal experience with the Seasonic Super Silencer 300, the Zalman 400, and friends' Antec TP 380S and Tt SPP 480AD.

A short while back, I had seen someone on SR mention that all the latest Antec True Power supplies that they had recieved had SATA connectors. I hadn't heard or seen any other supporting evidence until tonight when stumbled across this recent review .

The last couple of True480 PS I got from Antec had serial ATA connectors on them.

Just for the record, due to easy access to them, I've been using HEC power supplies for a long time. Lately I've been ordering these two:

HEC300ARPT HEC POWER PSU 300W ATX SUPER LOW NOISE
HEC350VDPT/B HEC POWER SUPPLY 350W LOW NOISE ATX FI

The latter has 2*80mm fans, and both seem to be quiet (for standard powersupplies).

Haven't had any problem with HEC powersupplies so far (that I remember).

But I'd still like a silent PS! Damm noisy machines....
