How to deal with wind chill?

Norwegian isn't my first language so I might have missed some of the finer points in the article. But it basically says that the climate changes doesn't lead to more storms. There's been a few lately around here so it's a popular discussion topic. But apparently there are periods with much...

Perhaps they've read your mind? I just saw that they've released a report (that I haven't read yet) about the working conditions at their suppliers, you can find it here. They found some unpleasant things and they will seek help from the Fair Labor Association to correct the problems. I hope...

How to deal with wind chill?

It was an impressive effort, most of us would probably die if we tried something like that. But the water temperature must by definition have been >0 C, or she would walk on the ice. There are plenty of places where lakes freezes in the winter. And my thermometer showed -5 degrees this morning...

Even Better PC Audio v. empty your wallet

I just said that a different program might be better. I can't try it myself since I don't have a USB-DAC. I came with the suggestion since many people claim those programs I mentioned result in better sound. ;) I'm sure all programs are feeding bit perfect numbers into the USB-port. Everything...

Even Better PC Audio v. empty your wallet

No, but a CD player from lets say 2008 is better than a CD player from 1983. Why? It's the same 1s and 0s coming out of the CD-player. ;) And I remember one time when an upgrade of Winamp resulted in a radical drop in the CPU usage, so of course different media players have different algorithms...

Even Better PC Audio v. empty your wallet

But wasn't the CD's played bit-perfect back in 1983? And what was the sound like? I'm glad that there are some open minded engineers out there who knows that there's always room for improvements - or we would still be listening to bit perfect crap. ;)

Not really, both the apples and the oranges introduces distortions into the sound chain. The only difference is that one of them is more obvious.

You're right of course, I'm sorry to have upset you. It's just like with speakers and head phones. All speakers sound the same because they only need to move the speaker membrane back and forth a few times/second to reproduce the right frequencies. If it's done correctly they all produce the...

Even Better PC Audio v. empty your wallet

That's probably a good idead. You should check out the Naim HeadLine, it's "only" a headphone amp and requires one of their power supplies. But the sound should be OK. ;) By the way, I got the family a pair of AKG K420s but they are still in the box. One plan is to connect them to my old Linn...

I've only used EAC and I think it's fine, but I would probably go with dbPoweramp if I would rip my CD collection today. America is ungovernable

It depends, if you earn lots of money you probably have enough to pay the rent, buy shoes for your kids and so on. So it's probably fair that they pay a bit more. But I also understand if you're against paying taxes if you feel that you don't get anything in return.

Who finances these things for the "companies not in the US"? I haven't studied national economics so its possible that I have missed something here, but I only see two alternatives: 1. The tax payers in the other country. 2. The end consumers.

I meant that turbos has been around in cars since 1974, so it's a pretty mature technology that's been tested in an few million cars by now. So a new turbo engine shouldn't be any less reliable than a normally aspirated engine.
