Will I get 1|3 faster speeds for the same size|power for example? I only care about size and power. If 5000 series 3.0 slots and 329W is not a third faster it's probably not worth while. Cost is of limited relevance, but a $600 card is probably too weak to waste time on.

That would be tough since the newer chipsats don't have many SATA ports. Many boards only offer 4 naturally and then maybe a few more through the ASmedia chips.
