Dead AMD 3200+, Dead ram, and possibly Power supply

Have the HTPC up and running. Explosion card is pretty incredible through the amp and speakers. Running only one ram stick, and, this seems to REALLY slow the system down. Kind of funny when the video card has twice the VRAM of the system.... Also, the vintage DVD IDE player isn't exactly...

68 MBPS IS FAST, WITH BURSTS TO 98, AND, THAT'S JUST SO FAR

We'll see how it goes today. Hooked up the WRT54G, and have it working. It's giving me 17 mbps on the laptop, using a N pci card. Astound has always been real good about this kind of stuff, like they gave me the WRT54gl I currently have, along with a 4 port Linksys.

I'm with David: Buy either a 27" Samung, or the 23" Samsung from Costco, depending on budget, and live with the size. You might also look at the 21" as well. While not perfect, they are pretty good.

68 MBPS IS FAST, WITH BURSTS TO 98, AND, THAT'S JUST SO FAR

When you look at what's available for routers, and I need a fairly good one, it makes sense. My wrt54gl I'm pretty sure is dead, and, I don't see much point in sinking a lot of money into something that at the end of it's life is going to be a throw away. 45 dollars for the first year is pretty...

AMAZING! Yes, it really does make a noticeable difference. Astound has a special: 2 years, 50mbps, for 39.95. Normal cost, 125.00 a month on special. Just got it to work, and, here's the results: It makes a noticeable difference from 20 mbps, and, it's 10 dollars cheaper. They offer 3 free...

While expensive, I think these are the best heat sinks I've ever worked with: http://www.swiftech.com/mcx-vpro.aspx They cool so well I can use Stealth Vantec fans on them, and they still keep the Xeons cool. Going on 12 years now... This looks like an excellent product, at an excellent...

Dead AMD 3200+, Dead ram, and possibly Power supply

To clarify: I ordered a new power supply, and, the old is probably bad. From what I can gather, you can have a PS that will start up a motherboard, but be out of the proper voltage range. Only way to check is with a meter I don't have. So, with the new power supply attached to the old...

Well, got the 3200+, now 3800+ up and running. CPU cost 25 bucks, PS cost 80, Seasonic 520, and the motherboard is good. Waiting for drivers to download, and, I should have the HTPC up and running. As close as I can tell, the constant gaming by the Menendez twins fried the cpu, taking some...

Wireless router: 8 port, gig. Easy turning on and off wireless.

Net seemed unusually snappy today. Just checked speed, and, I'm getting bursts to 70mbps, or slightly higher, then settles down to a solid 22-23mbps. Using the WRT54gl I was getting maybe 12 mbps.

Drive Angry: Makes Tarentino seem tame. Beautiful cars, Cage playing a guy back from the dead, to avenge his daughter's death. Amber Heard is good as Cage's companion, William Fichtner steals the show as the acountant. Enough nudity and sex to keep Mercutio happy, well, maybe not that much...

Seagate Replica External housing product review

IIRC, SCSI drives shut off at around 150 degrees. I was trying to transfer stuff off one, and, the file transfer failed due to excessive heat. The drive, after it cooled off, completed the transfer, provided it had a fan blowing on it. It was a loose drive, out of a housing, and, it was the...

Seagate Replica External housing product review

Thanks Time. My point is that the drive or the enclosure are both expensive, poorly made, and poorly designed. If you are correct, then it is working at slow USB 3 speeds. My tests were done using Windows, moving a 400 MB file. It started faster, then slowed down.

Seagate Replica External housing product review

It's not cheap. 130 bucks, means the drive is around 80 bucks and the housing costs 50 bucks???? That's absurd without a bit of a discount. With discount, the housing costs 20 bucks, and, it's not worth anything.

Not only did it have a sticker that says USB 3, it also has a USB 3 cable end. They are setting their own products up to fail with a POS housing. No excuse, so they must be doing this for a reason. Any ideas why one would design your own product to fail?

DD: This situation seems not to support that theory. CT is saying that 939 motherboards, die early, 5-6 years, vs. 12 for the Supermirco X5DA8 I'm typing this on. Capacitors, design, whatever, the CPU is fine, I think. From my observations, the thermal paste application is near perfect, and...
