HAPPY NEW YEAR! GREAT FOR SO LONG

2015 started out crappy for me, got really crappy halfway through, started looking up and then got worse, then started to steadily get better. Here's hoping 2016 continues the trend.

Ah. See, I just go with standard fans so I don't know these things. Noctua was the only specific brand I knew of and they sounded somewhat similar.

I'm guessing it borked itself over? That's a possibility with any sort of Windows upgrade. There's a reason they tell you to make a backup before you do it. Still, no excuse for it to do that. This isn't like the jump from XP to Vista. It's still fundamentally the same as Vista, after all.

    Proposed NAS build

Damn, that's a lot of storage. I can't even fill 1TB, though after backups and setup files I can certainly come close. Might upgrade to a 2TB when I finally do that build I've been putting off for forever. Your build looks nice and solid though. I've seen people use Pentiums or even Atoms for...

Oh my god, that internal shot made my knees turn to jelly. So... much... power... Been playing Undertale recently. I actually managed to buy it myself this time. It's pretty fun, but on the P4 if I'm doing anything else it lags horribly, as to be expected of a 2004 machine playing a 2015 game...

Out of curiosity, I checked the current OS marketshare figures. Kind of sad to see that 10.59% of people on the web are still using XP, even a year and 8 months after they dropped support for it. I'm one of them, at least for the time being, but I chose this fate. The rest of them may not have...

No sound on ADI SoundMAX AC'97

This one in particular dates from at earliest mid-2003. It's no big deal, my USB sound card works well enough. It's based on a C-Media chipset. I have to wonder if it's impacting my USB performance in any significant way. If not, it stays. I don't feel like buying a breakout box for the Audigy...

Drivers are installed correctly. No jumpers are set that would prevent it from working. Nothing is shorted out, to the best of my knowledge. It just quit working out of the blue one day. Stuff's plugged into the right port. Volume levels are fine. It's set as the default playback device. Yet...

I'd be folding except a Pentium 4 doesn't exactly help much and the GPU client doesn't like anything older than an HD 5000 series it seems. My Phenom II is still under repairs, I still need to get ahold of an appropriate PSU for its draw. It'll be back online come about Christmas.

Driver headache under Manjaro linux... (Arch base)

I know that nVidia is not to blame for this piteous state. Manjaro is supposedly semi-rolling release. It uses the -MANJARO kernel instead of -ARCH, which is a few versions behind (4.1.x instead of 4.3). I figured this out and I'm working on trying straight Arch since it might actually end...
