    External RAID enclosure recommendations

Do you have a thousand bucks to spend? If not, you're stuck with the cheapo units. There's no middle ground. BTW, you don't need 4+ drives to get 4TB of data. A 2 drives unit with two Hitachi 4TB drive in mirror would do it. And that can be purchased for much less than a decent 4+ drives unit.

I want to buy a new car

I noticed the premium versus regular on the ATS and Hyundai using Ford's comparative web engine. They put 274hp with regular gas for the Hyundai, but they may well be wrong. Does premium polutes less than regular?
  20. CougTek

I want to buy a new car

Hmmm. Apparently, the ATS requires super gas instead of regular. Hyundai achieves 274hp on a turbo 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with regular gas. So the ATS will be considerably more expensive to drive. Disappointing.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Well I hope they've improved their controllers a lot because from what I remember from the performance of old budget Kingston SSD that used to use Toshiba-made controllers, the end result was quite ugly. They had a reputation to be relaible though.

SSDs - State of the Product?

It cannot be a SandForce controller with the advertised transfert rates. The new Marvel controller would be a better match, but we cannot be sure until someone gets one and crack it open. So far, only Plextor came up with a model using the Marvel 88SS9187.

Oh and the ATS will sell for around 15000$ less than an Audi S4. Don't expect it to beat it on the ¼ mile. Neither is it what I'm looking for btw. I just want the best car for the money I'm willing to part with. It more and more looks like it will be between the Volvo S60 and the Cadillac ATS.

I want to buy a new car

270hp in a mid-sized car hardly makes it high performance. In fact, most mid-sized cars feature a ~250hp engine. What I like about it is that it's a 4-cylinder, therefore it should offer subsantially better gas mileage compared to other cars of a similar size. Same goes for the other two I...

The sad state of AMD's processors

I remember the ex-AMD-employee who told about this said they left approximately 20% efficiency right there (hand-craft versus automated design). That's huge. They need to focus on IPC at the core level on their next CPU design. The frequency has been stuck at 3GHz-to-4GHz for the past ten...
