    New NUCs

I was only considering the smaller form factor NUCs. It seems that the 15W i7-8650U (similar to my laptop) NUC has 2xHDMI, but there is an i7-8559U with one HMDI and a USB-C that is also DP 1.2. It looks like the NUC8i7BEH would be the better choice for the ports and presumably better...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

I suspect they chose the 5D IV sensor or a variant for timing and/or economy reasons. AF in LV mode was also slower than normal PD (4.5 vs 7 FPS). It's not clear if the sensor will implement micro PD for AF assist or if AF will consist of only the dual pixels that are a Canon specialty. They...

    New NUCs

Here we ago again with the link gremlins. https://newsroom.intel.com/news/intel-introduces-new-nuc-kits-nuc-mini-pcs-intel-nuc-family/ I don't understand how DP is obtained. There is no USB-C port, only two HDMI and four Type A USB. Does it use one of the A ports or do they mean an HDMI...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

It looks like the Canon only does 5FPS with continuous AF and 9FPS without AF. Just brilliant. That is slower than the 6D II's 6.5 FPS with AF.

There are finally some new Intel NUCs. Unfortunately they have screwed us out of the Displayport.

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

Fast and wide lenses don't hold much interest, but I'm concerned about the replacement for the 5DsR and then the 5D IV. I don't see any hope for Canon being able to replace 50+ lenses in my useful lifetime. For example, they just came out with the new 50/100/135 mm TSE lenses with exceptional...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

To me the joystick is the dividing line between the high grade and consumerish Canons for over ten years now. How are you expecting to use a touchscreen to select AF while using the viewfinder, holding a lens, and tracking the subjects over the frame? The rear controls are limited in quantity...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

There is no indication it is more than the 6D class of body, though those categories are different with the Sony style this is trying to emulate. The lack of AF joystick is a dead giveaway. There is nothing about the memory cards either, which is concerning. A $2000 FF camera body is a...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

It looks like a cheap body with limited controls like those of a 6D series rather than a 5D series. Since it has an abnormal mount and there is not enough room on the top or side for some lenses, I suppose the advantageous uses will be limited to the shorter lenses. It will probably be sold in...

    LED flashlights

It is $300, not $200. Based on the max cd that beams is really wide too. :( A single XHP35 light would be nearly enough for the same brightness after the first 7 seconds, cost a lot less, and have a better beam.

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

It's not so easy to change framing rate quickly/easily unless there are some custom buttons to program for that. I usually use full speed for anything that might involve action. Of course a leopard or especially a lion sometimes just stares at you, and you shoot a burst at 10-12 FPS because...

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

My Sony is only 8 FPS rather than 10 without AF, but even the Canon and Nikon pro bodies are a few frames slower without AF. 5.5 FPS vs. 12 is really a joke, indicating a mismatch of internal components in the design. Who will capture a static subject at 12FPS? :(

    Mirrorless Cameras (MILC) and Lenses

It's what I would expect in the entry FF class. We'll see if Canon can make a better EVF in a few years when it appears in the better bodies. I find the EVF a real hassle for fast changing conditions with long lenses. It's not even possible to see the subject without dialing in the exposure...

DJI drones - New Mavic 2 pro announced tomorrow

I would not suggest bullets of course. I meant near the airplanes. There should be some parks or somewhere for free usage that people could enjoy as a sport. It's like rocketry, where you can't just fire them off anywhere. After experiencing one aircraft anomaly I may be overly sensitive to...

DJI drones - New Mavic 2 pro announced tomorrow

Why would that be? Doppler effect is proportional to the speed so if the aircraft is traveling c/1000 (~186 MPH) there would be about a 1 ppm shift (2.4 MHz out of 2.4 GHz). That is about half of one channel and usually the bands overlap by a few channels. Of course the consumer drones are...

The AF seems to be suboptimal to say the least. It's a premature response to video Milleniums and the Eastern tiny hands markets. Canon subminiature MILC bodies have been poor as well. The good part is that the DSLRs have a little more life. I'm more interested in the 500/5.6 PF.
