    Lots of Snow

Less and less people repair their own cars, so the emphasis is on a clean looking engine compartment when you pop the hood and exterior styling instead of an easy to work on car.

    I don't see the corollary.

I'm sure binning is a factor. They're likely on the edge of the manufacturing process with the 3950X. They probably can get enough to satisfy the demand over time, but demand will exceed the supply for a while.

    Lots of Snow

I'm sure there are probably some other safe areas that can be used as alternate jacking points, but there are a few marked spots on the pinch weld that are the primary. Hopefully I'll never have to find out. However, it is an Audi. Ease of repair doesn't seem to be a key design concern. For...

That's one way to look at it. We have no idea how much stock they had. Lots of products sell out at product introduction. Even things from really big companies like Apple. You could also take the alternative perspective that they are just selling it far too cheaply.

SSDs - State of the Product?

The Anandtech review of the 1TB model made it looks like they made it a worse overall performer than then EX920 for the sake of putting up higher number in a few synthetic benchmarks for bragging rights.

Supply and demand at work. They can charge whatever they want. We don't have to buy it.

Mine just as a round rubber pad in a metal cup. There's no channel for the pinch weld. Now I have an aluminum adapter that I set on the rubber pad.

I'm glad you clarified because your comment was only about the engine so I thought maybe some shenanigans had transpired.
  10. S

    Lots of Snow

Yes, with a jack that holds the car correctly. A flat pad on a pinch weld is not the correct way. What about the rest of the "Mini-Van"? Was it left behind?
  11. S

    Lots of Snow

I expect it will probably only get worse over time continuing to jack the car without one. Depending on how long you plan to have the car it may not matter though.

    Ryzen

I don't think they do. Probably the best solution is to make friends with the Microcenter employee who checks in new inventory and get them to set one aside for you or give you a heads-up that they're entering them into their system (when they get them) so you can basically be there waiting for...

Are you using nowinstock.net? https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/processors/amd/ I'm holding off a little bit on my build.

Oh, you definitely want those. I'm using them now, but I should have used them before.

You have pinch weld adapters on both as to not flatten the pinch weld?

Where do you put them exactly?

I can do it in a little under 1 hour as well. I don't bother with the jack stands for tire changing since I'm not getting under the car. I just got this, which might aid the process a bit next time.

    10 gig Ethernet

There's this: https://mikrotik.com/product/crs312_4c_8xg_rm I'm sure others exist. You can also get SFP+ 10GbE modules though they have reduced cable length limits due to power restrictions for SFP+ ports. I only have SFP+ at the moment and I plan to avoid 10GbE.

    Something Random

No, I don't mean their store brand, I mean real brands. Like they'll work with a company to make a very similar product that's slightly inferior. So like a cordless drill has a lower capacity battery than the version sold elsewhere at other retailers at a higher price. Or their Rain-X washer...

    Ryzen

I'm pretty sure it will be different. High demand items aren't available for purchase online even if they're in stock in store. Like right now for me the 3900X is in stock in my local store, but I can't buy it online. The Rpi 4 was that way too when it first came out.
  30. S

I don't think you'll be able to buy it online though, so your plan is to head to the store ASAP after getting the alert?

My beef with them is their crappy produce and substandard merchandise. They work with their vendors to make similar, but lower quality items that are hard to distinquish from the higher quality versions other stores sell.

And how often are you doing that?

I don't particularly like the company either, but I'm not above going and buying loss leader merchandise from them. 🤣

Well, when they're selling "4K" movies for $7.96 or $9.96 that are normally $20 or more I'll endure the trip into the store.

I'm pretty sure the people who were using my credit card information to order things online weren't buying discs, but I can't be completely sure.

I buy cheap Blu-ray / "4K" blu-ray movies from them in the Thanksgiving/BF sales, but that's largely the extent of my walmart purchases. I rarely shop there.

    Something Random

I added it up and it was $2544.76 in 9 purchases in total. $19.99 to Whitepages (1 purchase) and the other $2524.77 (8 purchases) to walmart.com
  40. S

I'm pretty sure they were online purchases and they were stopped while the charge was still pending. What you're describing is only for in person transactions AFAIK.

Happy times! 🤬 I just got hit with a bunch of fraudulent charges on my Visa card from walmart.com and target.com. They got something like $1.5-2.0k of charges at walmart.com approved from before my bank suspected something was up and started declining the charges and sending me the automated...

I wouldn't have any concerns myself. They have two different CAS16 options (16-16-16-36 & 16-19-19-39). I don't know which CAS16 flavor is representative of what was used in those articles. Here's the other CAS16 kit...

It looks like 3600 CAS16 is a better performer than 3200 CAS14, but not even all the different sites' tests of Ryzen 3xxx for memory performance come to the same conclusions. https://www.cgdirector.com/best-memory-ram-amd-ryzen-cpus-3600-3700x-3900x/...

I mean in the applications that you're (LM) planning to run. I could similarly be fretting about only dual channel memory instead of quad channel, but it doesn't seem to matter per the benchmarks in the x264/x265 video compression results I've seen posted so far. The 3970X has twice the cores...

I bought the NT1 based on the frequency response, the self noise rating, and recommendations of people I know who do audio for a living. I would like a stereo matched pair of AKG C414's, but the right deal hasn't crossed my path yet.

Interesting. I picked up a Rode NT1 (kit) and Scarlett Solo (2nd gen) a few months ago for voice recording. I don't have a nice desk boom / mount for it yet though.

But does a 3950X not even work in an X570 with an older BIOS. I would expect it to POST, but maybe not work optimally until it's flashed, but maybe I'm wrong. I mean it's just a different variant of a supported processor series. I remember back in the day sticking Intel CPUs that weren't...
