The Skydio 2 looks pretty impressive as competitor to the Mavic.

Not with Zen 2 cores, at least not yet. They'll have 16 for $749 once they launch the 3950X. The next gen Zen 2 based Threadripper looks like it may start at 24 cores. No idea if they would price that at $999 or there will be variants with less than 24 cores that they could put at that price...

How far into the future are you considering? Intel is claiming a big IPC gain with their latest cores that would make them roughly on par with the Zen 2 cores (for IPC), but so far those are all on Intel's 10nm which clocks slower than their 14nm process (so far).

I'm less concerned about raw gHz than I am actual performance. Chasing ultra-high gHz just burns power and clobbers efficiency.

Does it really matter? You may never know the exact reasons why they delayed one CPU's launch.

FWIW, my Add is 0. I only have numbers for Sphere, Cylinder, and Axis. Turns out my Sphere is -2.50, not 2.25 like I thought. I don't think there's a whole lot of difference in the lenses from the established brands/players. Essilor (the makers of Crizal) is the lenses and coatings section...

So I got the new glasses about 30 minutes ago. Holy crap!!! Why did I wait so many years? The lack of reflections from the lenses makes such a huge perceptual difference in the clarity of vision I can hardly believe it. I give them :geek: :geek: :geek: :geek: :geek: out of 4.

Are you asking if I need glasses or correction to see up very close? I don't. I am near sighted. My prescription is -2.25. I don't need bifocals / trifocals / etc. yet. I don't have a full copy of my prescription yet, so I can't give all the numbers.

What pushed me over the edge was the fact that I didn't even turn on the cable box for maybe 4 months starting when I was redoing the room and the system was out of comission. That's when I finally decided it was time.

I'm lazy and not financially strapped enough. Hence the long status quo before finally doing something.

My coworker thinks my internet is overpriced. His local cable company is quite a bit cheaper for equivalent service. Of course he has two local cable companies to choose from. I only have the one that negotiated a monopoly with the "city" I live in. There is no BW cap, so no overage fees...

I started watching Bosch. I'm looking forward to The Expanse and Mr. Robot. Both of those I had been watching on cable. The former is now an Amazon exclusive. The latter is still on USA, but also Amazon. I enjoyed Jack Ryan as well. You watch TV while you're shredding?

I didn't watch a single thing on cable in several months. I decided it was time to stop paying for it. The few shows I was watching I can buy on Blu-ray as seasons for way less than what I was paying for cable TV. I'll save ~$85-90 a month. The only streaming service I have at the moment is...

I sort of cut the cord today. I'm now internet only from the local cable monopoly.
