There is only the one 2TB NVMe SSD by Samsung and it may drain too much power or create excessive heat. It is also twice as expensive as 2TB SATA M.2. Are there options I am missing?
So that is a concern. Samsung and LG are equally useless with technical info in manuals. LG always seemed like a crappier brand but their laptops have SATA M.2.
I suppose the laptop is as good a platform as any for the learning curve.
Does that software prevent the Windows updates? I don't have to activate Windows on the OEM machine do I? Basically I would want to disable the Wi-Fi somehow.
I probably will. I'm about $20K overbudget already and should wait until bonus time.
The main reason is that the thought of Win 10 is making me nauseous.
This is not for work. I have a company laptop for that. :(
Weight is important, not ruggedness. In addition to the single prop flights, the internationals are not fun either and I'm always overweight.
I will put the laptop in a bag with other items and forgo a neoprene pouch since I don't...
Maybe I don't know the Kaby nomenclatures, but my understanding is that the 8000 series has four cores.
There is also a new lineup of http://www.lg.com/us/laptops/lg-13Z980-UAAW5U1-ultra-slim-laptop]13.3"/14"LG gram laptops coming out with the 8250U or higher CPUs.
How could that be? If Samsung were making or using counterfeit CPUs, wouldn't Microsoft be all bent out of shape?
It would be much easier if Fujitsu would just use the 8550U, but who knows when or if they will update processors.
I see that Samsung has some new laptops with the Kraby Lake "Type R" CPU. Notebook 9 13.3" Supposedly this the best new low power CPU in years.
The 1kg weight is a little heavier than I would like, but probably acceptable if the charger is small enough. What are the thoughts on the Samsung...
Nikon has produced several new wide and normal lenses recently. The 58/1.4, 19/4 PCE, 35/1.4, 24/1.4, etc. are all less than ten years old. The 28/1.4 is less than a year old.
I suggest getting the 24 and 19 PCE lenses for wide landscapes.
There are plenty of options in fast Nikkors now and also Sigma or Zeiss for a few particular purposes. What exactly are you doing that is limited by lens choices for Nikon?
I don't think there will much effort on better DX wide lenses since the market has gone to FX, but they should update the 16-35/4. Whether they make a 16-35/2.8 IDK.
Not only is there the new Diet Coke Zero, but now they have other strange flavors in tall, skinny cans for some reason.
Does anyone really like them?

When it rains it floods. :(
Main computer won't boot. Secondary computer won't connect to the internet.
NUC fell behind main computer and then I cut my head on an old bracket under the table.
The newer Canon lenses like the 400/4 II DO place the DO group further in the lens, so it is of a smaller diameter. Of course that means less weight savings in the front groups, but still providing some size/length savings from the low telephoto ratio.
What do you use to replace nicely colored fluorescent fixtures that are no longer supported? I don't trust many of the no-CRI LEDs.
I ordered one of these and it was not very good.
