My phone is still at 100% after a few hours of use, so perhaps the calibration is off in the opposite direction.

I was able to obtain an external charger and charge to 100%.

My guess is that the new one is worse in that it uses a cheaper drive than a WD RED, but there may be other reasons for a different SKU. H3.H0A83 is the firmware for the RED so you can check it without opening the enclosure.

Typically it is in the controller chip with the battery.

That is mostly caused by the Androids. Sometimes the typing is limited to a few characters per minute. It really sucks.

It seems the newer CPUs are not what I would prefer, a 6-8 core CPU with good O/C and a lot of lanes. The 7900X and up reportedly require massive cooling to O/C. :(

That's ridiculous! :mad: The 5930K hexacore supported 40 lanes three years ago. Is everything supposed to use Thunderbowls now? Do the 16 lanes include M.2 or is that separate?

That is where a few of my REDs were obtained. ;) As 5400 PM drives they are not fast, but better than the historically slow Green or Blue WD 5400 RPM drives. Note that there is now a new model of the 8TB Easystore, which I suspect is using a non-helium 8TB drive.

It was working fine until then, so it would be a rare coincidence if not caused by the Androids. I will let the battery drain as much as possible by Tuesday, then charge it and hope it resets to the 100% level.

Not really. I suppose it is for servers. I suppose the sustained writes/reads are nothing special if they only report the 4K random results.

I have bunch of these. I think they were nearly $600 16 months ago. The prices are much lower now. I probably would not buy drives from the Amazon, but that is another issue.

The complications are really sucky, but I have it working.

My new mainboard has red LEDs on the surface and underneath somewhere. It also has a connector for additional lights for something equally useless I suspect.

I use the 10TB helium Seagate Enterprise Capacity drives. The 8TB did not have helium gas at the time. Now they even have a 12TB, but it has more platters and requires somewhat more power than the usual helium drives.

Now the battery only charges 92%. :frusty:

I know on Synology NAS, the lights are not actually on the surface. There is a plastic lightpipe beaming the LED at each drive tray position.

Thanks. I'm using the USB ports next to the PS2 port. I set the BIOS option for Windows 7 install to Enable, to no avail. I also tried the USB legacy without positive results.
