I'm not sure why you would consider the form factor of the FF Sony E bodies to be a good thing. They are harder to use than Canon or Nikon due to the poor ergonomics, though the a9 and a7RIII are a bit better than their predecessors

Ideally you want to dissolve the surface of the foam, not melt it.

Can you dissolve some polyurethane and add a binder for the foam?

Evacuate the air to a high vacuum (0.05 Torr), then purge with a pure inert gas (5.0 helium or nitrogen) and repeat a few times to be sure. ;)
