    LED flashlights

I forgot all about that light as it was not feasible to ship. I tried it out last night and was rather disappointed at the MH25GT's design compared to other Nitecore lights. The charging is bizarre (light must be on?). The uncovering of the USB port reveals a greasy area that will pick up junk...

There is not much info about the microLED. Are the gamut, uniformity and stability up to par compared to the best LCD displays?

    question New Computer

No, it will probably get worse and if you stop paying there goes the option to watch it again. Discs are fairly robust if not abused. I'd not call them fiddly. The time it takes to pull a disc from a bookcase and start playing it is about 1% of a movie, hardly a lot of overhead. The TV...

    Best movie you've seen

I thought he meant the person, not the character. My thinking about a character has been influenced by the death of the actor, especially if there is a close temporal proximity.

    question New Computer

I never had a blue-ray in the computer since the format was far too late to store a decent data capacity. I have a couple of Blue-RAY players connected to TVs, which is the natural way to view. There is no need for computers, wi-fi, maintaining pay accounts, dealing with the hassles of...

My main system is in a mid-tower case containing ten bays, four of which are 5.25" externals. There are two removable drive trays, one optical drive, and one passively cooled HDD with the temperature probes.

Every modern processor has unfixable security flaws

I hope the old 5930K system holds up for a while. I'm not spending $3K+ for mainboard/CPU/RAM and having a slower computer than the old one if the fixes kill performance.

Every modern processor has unfixable security flaws

I don't care about the security risk. If the workaround is that 10 runs like a slug, then the options are limited. At least I won't be buying a new system until the issue is resolved.

It was rather entertaining. I did find the incessant smoking to be annoying and of course that lesbian scene was gratuitous.

    question New Computer

Of course every new tower I get seems to have more features, but this was the desktop Antec case mentioned earlier in the thread. The user wants this form factor which is just not common nowadays, especially ones that have two external 5.25" bays and two internal 3.5". The more modern cases are...

    question New Computer

The box was waiting for me onsite and I rebuilt the computer in the old case. They don't make nice cases like that anymore, but the cable routing was a PITA. The Z270 mATX board has the stacked edge-style SATA ports and there is not much clearance in that area for cables, so only three of the...

I found virtually no difference between the regular M.2 PCIe vs. the NVMe versions in desktops. They both had about the same speeds and the differences are not even that great over SATA SSDs in most applications. I know that Greg is a placebo effect type of guy, so it may offer more benefits to...

We saw the WW onboard a couple weeks back. It was not clear if the main character was overly naïve and/or had mental issues. I checked the two flights previous to mine and it was completely impossible to make a connection under the best of cases. Yet they would not allow any change until the connection is missed in the air. It's totally BS and now stuck in a strange city for 23 hours. I would have stayed home. :bibber:

New phone time, And Google Fi

Tmobile is fixed rate with taxes included as SD mentioned. Their coverage is a lot better than it wasca few years ago, but I find it roams to various local carriers more than ATT for example. I'm sure they have a strong presence in the city, but would have to do some research on actual performance.
