    Dogmatic thinking is ignorant

I don't identify with either group, since I find both equally stifling, and conservative. Niether deserves to be considered liberal, in the true sense of the word, and conservatives always consider me some kind of turn coat greeny. I'm sick of labels,... If you want to use a label...

Pretty bad when it's already 75 at 5 in the morning. Weatherbug is fun, since it gives us a chance to track the weather here. We've dogged the heat bullet all summer, but we got it big time this weekend. s

    Dogmatic thinking is ignorant

Exactly, Sechs. What has happened is the desire, or willingness to listen to new ideas has been destroyed. As Mubs links point out, when people are unable to converse, the result is religious like zealotry, much like what we have now. I really can't get that worked up over the entire thing...

    Dogmatic thinking is ignorant

My point exactly. "liberals" have become as set in their ways as the very conservatives they despised, and for the same reasons, unwilling to try new ideas after thiers failed. s

    Dogmatic thinking is ignorant

I guess the real problem is age, and the hardening of the brains' areteries in liberals, making them much like their fathers... All those 'liberals' are now 45-60, and have become just as the prior generation, holding on to their failed ideas with a death grip... s

    Dogmatic thinking is ignorant

HMMMM Merc, you sound much too much like the intolerant, facist-liberals that run this state, and have controlled congress, for way too long. If you disagree, they have no tolerance for a differing position, or, are not willing to listen to your position. The later by the way, is what...

    Walmart's $598 ECS Wonder-Laptop

The installer for palm pilot is idiotic, or doesn't like XP. I've tried it with SP 2, and had it installed without, but another program fuxored the settings, FirstClassless, and I can't return them to normal, even after deleting them. Appears FC deletes the originals, installing it's on path...

    AMD question

You think 4 grand for a 2mb cache, 2.8 Ghz processor is a bit much? Boy, in that light, forget what I said. The Athlons are looking like a great deal, or a dual Xeon system, using the regular Xeons. (Greg gets foot out of mouth, barely) s

Should I buy a Seagate HDD?

Just checked Costco.com and no hard drives I could find right now. Try going to Costco, and see what they have. Should I buy a Seagate HDD?

Only drives tested before they go out, IIRC, by Seagate are SCSI. So, depending on where they are made, you are gambling, but not much. What's Fry's return policy? For buying IDE drives, www.costco.com is the best, due to their return policy, any costco outlet. Compusa, with their absurd 14...

    RAID 0 again

Why bother? It already has ATA 100 on the motherboard. How many drives can you fit in this thing? Buy a couple drives for the 100 channel, and use that, and save yourself some money. SATA has yet to approach scsi as an interface, and, ATA is fine for mass storage. S

    SF vs. SR

Funny, but my results and experiences have been so far out of whack with SR that I see no point in visiting. The ONLY reason for me to check there is to find out the reviews on IDE/ATA drives, and, since they all seem to be pretty much the same, it just is an easy place to find out which drive...

You are doing great. The X 15 is running fine, and so is the other drive. UW max is around 35-7 mb sec, real world. LVD max is around 75 mb/sec, real world. Haven't tried the 15.4, but my 15.3 maxed at 73 mb/sec. s

    RAID 0 again

You know I really have to say, the irony of Davin and Eugene actually saying something bad about ide, or SATA drive setups, that would increase their advertizers sales, is dripping. After my Maxtor/Promiselless experience, I figured that out, early on. Odd that I was ridiculed for that, and...

    RAID 0 again

Yes, SATA Raid 0, and ide raid 0 generally suck. We know that. Perhaps with SATA2 we'll finally see something to start considering giving up scsi for, but I doubt it.
