How to tell 7K1000's from 7K1000.B's

Does anyone know how I can figure out whether a store is stocking the new, 3-platter 7K1000.B or the older 7K1000? Also, I'm in Canada, which might change the model numbers (not sure there), and Canadian retailers definitely don't seem to be noting the 7K1000.B revision by including the B...

Odd directories on my HP Laptop

I have two directories that are basically just random hex strings in my C:\ drive's root. I don't know what they're for, but I need to free up some space (1.8" HDD) and I can't friggin' delete them. I can't even change the ownership to myself in an Administrator account. Any recommendations?

SSDs - State of the Product?

Get the X25-M. There isn't a real-world, significant performance difference for any task I can think of. In fact, for Photoshop, for example, 4 inexpensive traditional HDDs will offer superior performance as a scratchdisk. The X25-E is only useful for very specific enterprise/server...

SSDs - State of the Product?

I like Techreport's review more. They have real-world STR-driven tests using large file copies. It's interesting, for example, that despite having less STR in HD Tach then its competitors, the X25-M surpasses them in real-world benchmarks for which STR is the largest factor. Why? Who knows...

I'll look into that. I've noticed that the networked printer at the construction site (where I am not right now) seems to be indicated as offline. I'll check if that changes when I connect to that network. At the moment the networked printer available where I am indicates Ready, and I can...

That's also very well-reviewed. You can get it with a 6-cell battery, just like the Eee 1000, and Samsung NC10. I think it has a slightly smaller screen and keyboard than both of those though. Otherwise it's probably quite similar.

It's a shame the new Dell Mini 12 is limited to 1GB of RAM by its chipset, and that it includes a non-standard PATA-ZIF connector for the HDD. I would love one of these, but I'd want to add a little RAM, and a better disk --neither of those are options with this. What a failure... Stereodude...
