I switched Android Messages for my phone, and use Messages for Web. It's not as slick and easy as Google Voice does it. I use the Hangouts or Voice app, and conversations via the web. It looks and acts the same everywhere.

From Windows 7, I'll be insisting on a clean install, to reduce the chance of things getting mucked up. From 8/8.1, I will allow upgrades. Haven't seen any machines with an embedded key, but it doesn't sound promising.
