    Futility...

What a beautiful find. It would be nice to come across a collection like that, for free. Amazingly, the whole lot was paper, and everything was intact. I've seen similar situations where insects get to the bank notes and they just turn to dust. Normally, insects and moisture would destroy...

    Black and White Video?

I'm guessing there are three possibilities: 1. Someone else (person or animal) in the house is knowledgeable enough to change that setting. 2. After too much chocolate milk, you fell into a cocoa high, unconsciously changing things around the house, including the saturation setting in...

    Goodbye (for now)

The old boy and young Miss Tea have been away from this forum for quite some time. They seem to be online as they've been updating their bird.net.au site - must be super busy and all that jazz.

    Slow day?

What a shame to have so many problems with that new house. I remember you mentioning something before about foundation issues - but this awful. They might as well post a 'uninhabitable' sign until the place is remodeled to meet current codes. I hear Norway is nice, although the language can...

“Chick flicks”, what are they all about? There’s one playing in my house right now, so I’ve been willfully (and told) to leave. That seems to be good and bad. First, it’s bad, because I would like to see a movie. However, it is good because: (1) I saw a small glimpse of the movie and it is...

GM Pulls Ads From L.A. Times

Nice chart, thanks Fushigi. Volkswagen should also include Skoda. Granted, there are laws of physics that limit certain characteristics of an automobile, but I would also prefer to stay with a mid-size car like mine and still average the higher (40+) miles per gallon. Oh, and call me strange...

GM Pulls Ads From L.A. Times

As much as I'd like to have a more fuel efficient car, the cost of a new vehicle is to high. I average 25 mpg, pay less then $50.00 a year for registration and only a few hundred dollars in insurance premiums - no car payments.

Great article Merc. I've paid large debts off with $2.00 bills, but it was a private transaction. Oh, and yes, many times they are sequentially numbered because they never get used. One of the banks needed extra time (2 days) to get my 100 of those bills. They're usually new too.

    Recommendation for FP LCD

The F-series is their Value Line, and I think they are comparable to Dell monitors. Some of the other series from AG Neovo are certainly better then the offerings from Dell. http://www.neovo-usa.com/products/products.htm

    Recommendation for FP LCD

One of my personal machines uses a Samsung 192T, and I like it a lot. For me, 19" screens are the best. They combine the right native resolution with screen size for my eyes. You might also want to look into the AGNeovo F-419.

Figuring out the graphic card universe...need for a database

Let me correct my typing: GV-RX80L256V - X800 XL GV-RX80256D - X800 Both are silent; the X800 is below $300.00 and the X800XL is above $300.00. There is also the: GV-RX70128D ...which is based on the X700 and costs less, below $200.00.
  44. Buck

Figuring out the graphic card universe...need for a database

There is also the RX80L256D, which is the plain X800, not the X800 XL.

Figuring out the graphic card universe...need for a database

Gigabyte makes a nice X800 card, it doesn't use a fan for cooling -- that'll make for fast and quiet video rendering.

Very slow data transfers beetwen drives

I would try an installation of 2003 on a single ATA drive (Primary Master) as the only device on the cable. Then I would experiment with a RAID1 on each of the three Serial ATA controllers.
