4 3.5" hard drives, one SSD, room for more, and plenty of breathing room. Since cases last so long, it would be nice to have room for future additions. The two 200 mm fans are a nice bonus, even if I'm not overclocking my next build.
Would the need to route cables through the side of the case (other side of the motherboard) lead to problems with cables that aren't long enough? I almost had some cables that didn't reach in my P180.
Thanks for bringing this up, Handy. I too am thinking about the Corsair 600T for my next system build, which I'm thinking will be in Q1 2011 with a Sand Bridge processor. If you haven't seen Tech Report's review, check it out: http://techreport.com/articles.x/19638 They seemed to like it very...
I'm wondering if a Sandy Bridge will be my upgrade to my currently 44 month old Core 2 Duo. Do you guys think there will be anything competitive on price/performance at the mid-high end in Q1-2 of 2011?
I suspect English isn't their first language:

Sure. Office and OpenOffice are also overkill for 90% of people.
In Word 2007 the new Review ribbon is very convenient for more complicated editing, and PowerPoint/Excel 2007 lets me do more editing of charts that are within PowerPoint which is very convenient for making scientific posters...
I think I'd prefer to avoid a subwoofer because I just don't need it for the kind of audio I'd be using it for (voice) and because I don't want me wife to hear it in another room.
Can anybody recommend a set of cheap 2.0 speakers? I use a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 pros right now and will continue to do so for any audio where quality matters. I just need a cheap and small set of desktop speaker for listening to audio lectures, podcasts, etc.
Thanks,
Adcadet
I'm thinking of building another computer with Windows 7 and I'd like Office 2010, but I don't really want to pay through the nose. My work really doesn't have great discounts for home software. The cheapest MSDN subscription I see is $600...
I'm happy with my Sennheiser MM50's - I think they have a version not made for the iPhone. Through Amazon I got them for <$40.

I believe Stereodude's post here (http://www.storageforum.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7827&highlight=gigabit+NIC) suggests that the Intel CT Dekstop, which is a PCI-e 1x card, is fasting than the Intel PT (or MT? I think MT is end-of-life) Dekstop which is a PCI card. I guess I'm not familiar...
Good point. The only downside is that I would then loose my only PCI-e 1x slot (my P5NE SLI has on PCI-e x16 slot, a single PCI-e 1x, and two PCI slots). I was sortof hoping to keep that open in case I wanted to put in a TV tuner card.
After reading through this (http://www.storageforum.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7827&highlight=gigabit+NIC) I'm wondering if there is any point in getting a PCI-e (vs just a PCI) NIC. For me, far and aware the feature I'm looking for is reliability and easy of use (well-supported drivers in both...
Hey Gang,
My onboard Nvidia gigabit LAN adaptor (on my Asus P5N-E SLI) is flaky. About a year ago it died so I put in a 100bT PCI NIC I had laying around. A few months ago for some reason I tried the onboard gigabit NIC again and it worked. Today my computer froze up and after a reboot the...
So....I was tweaking my fan placements in my Antec P180 and was putting back the lower drive bay. The rats nest of cables was hitting the lower fan so I began rearranging them, and I managed to snap off a SATA connector. The pins on the drive were bent and the upper plastic bracket was left...
Hey Gang,
Now that I got a video camera and desperately need the storage space, I bought a 2 TB drive. I figured I could now uninstall my very old WD 200JB. The only problem is that my boot manager seems to reside on this disk. Right now I only boot Windows 7, and I keep copies on two hard...
Thanks for the vote of confidence, guys.
Given that my main job these days is research, which is all done in metric, and my backup gig is medicine, which is also all in metric, I'm pretty familiar with metric units of measurement.
Do most users actually benefit (much) from >2 cores?
Does anybody have a good reference for comparing my old Core 2 Duo 6400 (default 2.13, actually running at 3.0-3.2 GHz) to the current breed of CPUs? My computer is now 3.5 years old and I'm debating if its time for an upgrade.
Hey gang,
With the baby on the way, I'm looking to finally build a home theater PC. I would love to use the internals from my current PC if possible to save money - this includes a Core 2 Duo 6300 (I'd de-overclock it), and Asus P5NE-SLI 2 GB RAM, and GeForce 7900GS. I'd want to add in a blue...
Hey Gang,
I'm thinking of adding some RAM to my computer. My motherboard is an Asus P5N-E SLI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131142). I currently have 2X1 GB memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144028) installed and I think I want to go...
Do you guys think there will be a particularly good time to buy an SSD? When there are more PCI-e versions? More Sandforce-based ones? Is there some advance in the pipeline I should wait for, or just get one anytime?
Anybody here familiar with videoconferencing apps/hardware? With the new addition to my family coming soon, I have relatives across the country who want to be able to chat online for free, preferably with video. Luckily, everybody has broadband. Any suggestions regarding where to start?
Anybody have similar thoughts on when to buy into the SSD world? My uses are pretty basic home stuff, occasional bouts of what I would call heavy office use, and some light gaming.
I think I figured it out. I followed the instructions below and I no longer get this foolishness.

After I installed my new D-link 655, I noticed that a bad URL typed into my browser (Chrome or IE) would bring up a Yahoo search through www1.dlinksearch.com. I can't even figure out what this is called. Is this a function of my DNS server? How do I change it to something other than Yahoo...
Love my iPhone but I can't imagine using a 10" version, even if it had 3G. I just don't have that kind of money to blow on something that's not a pocket-sized phone and not a real computer.
How many people use a passphrase other than their pets name or the same name as their SSID? Around here I'm guessing the answers is just a few, thanks to my IBMer neighbors.
The D-link 655 arrived today. Setup was very easy although time consuming (lots of waiting) with the included CD. I tried to enable graphical authentication (where it displays a garbled image) but it seemed to muck things up so I reset it to factory default and re-did the install process...
